New BMW M2: See why I love it!

Say hello to the all-new BMW M2! This is our first look at BMW s new mini M4, and it s time to find out if it was worth the wait! Of course, we have to kick off with the design. Say what you want about BMW s recent design language, but it s been anything but boring! The overall shape of the car retains the standard M2 look, but up front, it s all gone a bit square! You ve got a massive rectangular air intake in the front bumper, flanked by two square ones! Thankfully the grille is relatively small (compared to recent BMW releases, although the frameless design clearly makes it stand out! Even if you re not a fan of the looks, there s no denying the M2 has performance! It rolls up with the same 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six as found in the new M3 & M4, and it can put down 460hp & 550Nm of torque! That s an awesome 10hp more than the old M2 CS, and only 20hp short of the regular M3 & M4! What s more, the range-topping edition has the ability to hit 60mph in just 4. 1 seconds! As for the price, it starts from around 61, 500, so it s a fair bit more than the likes of an RS3 or AMG A45 S. But then again, let s remember this is pretty much a mini M4, so if anything the price isn t too bad!

cheaper than current M4, more exiting than RS3 and A45 but has some visual 'issues'. id still say its one of the best looking new gen BMWs. MB should make a direct competitor with RWD or 4matic +, 2 door coupe and the similar size. not even gonna list a 6 cyl or V8 because its never ever happening again in that size but yea. even the C63 2. 0l wouldn't be bad in that form factor

As an owner of the current M2, this is a major disappointment
As you can see, it took a major step back in style. And it added HP, but it also added 300 lbs of weight, so it doesn't perform any better than my F87, at least in RWD form. I'm sure BMW had no interest in making this quicker than the M3/M4. I was thinking of getting this, but I think not.

Honestly, some of you guys here, if BMW did the same thing for too long, it gets boring. All their old cars while familiar and recognisable, all look dull compared to their newest stuff. Plus, you can t cry here, cry in front of BMW and vote with your chequebook. If you don t like it, don t buy it and they will respond.

Have to agree that the lack of ANY trim around the grills looks as if someone's stripped them off while the driver wasn't looking. I also don't go for BMW's current obsession with drab black as the only outline contrast to body colour. It just looks dull and dreary to me - especially under grey British skies.

They've basically turned the M2 into the M3 and the M3 into the M5 in terms of weight/size. I actually like the styling; it seems like an evolution of the previous design. BMW knows this is their enthusiast car and M2 fans wouldn't tolerate the beaver tooth grill. I just wish they'd stop making the cars bigger!

Haha there seems to be a theme of hating bmw no matter what. I very much prefer this design over m3/m4. It kind of retro and futuristic at the same time. Sure front bumper could be little less square but they could have just put the humongous grill in the m2 as well. Which they didn t so

Aren't BMW's getting boring? There are too many models and names. I wan't to have a clear winner for a status symbol. They keep changing and there are too many different versions that nobody can keep up. No matter how well this car can perform, I don; t want one. saying that as BMW fanboy

This M2 FIXES multiple wrongdoings in the original design, look how they even fixed the shape of the headlights. It also looks more muscular with the right angles.
The rear still looks cross-eyed and weird though. So overall the old wins on exterior style.

I saw it in the flesh today. As with most BMW designs it looks better in real life than in pictures. It looks really aggressive. I like it, and I think it will grow on people. I wasn t a fan of the M3/M4 front grille at first but came round.

BMW needs to fire the complete designer crew and hire people from Hyundai.
As a BMW dealer here in Luxembourg told me when I was commenting the fugly M3 grill, they need to make a change to the design and are trying to find their way.

So the RS3 has 4WD, weighs less, costs less, is quicker of the line and has a higher top speed and is more practical. And in my eyes an absolute stunner. Is there really a competition going on or how would anyone not choose the Audi?

The round headlights, inline 6, RWD chassis and of course the classic grill with fewer curves was what made BMWs, most of that is missing now and I won't be surprised they go fully AWD or even FWD now, that's where I'll draw the line.

Its giving me serious M6 vibes from the front. and oddly enough its also around the same weight as the M6 too.
dont know if its jut me that will be looking at the M6 thinking thats now a used bargain combined to this

You guys remember those really early 3D racing games you could play on your tiny Nokia brick phone? Where the cars were made up of like 10 triangles each and the lights were just textures?
That's what this M2 looks like

reply

While it doesn't look THAT shitty and absurd like their latest design failures it's still not a good looking car at all. No idea what the BMW designers are smoking or if they're already having severe brain damage.
