If you want a premium saloon that isn't German, could these be the cars for you - the Volvo S90, Jaguar XF and Ford Mondeo Vignale (yes it's a 'posh' Ford apparently? I put the cars head to head to see which is the best. Please note: at the beginning of the video when I say the starting price of the Volvo I say it's the D5. It's not! The price is for the entry-level D4 - which is the car I am testing. All prices correct at time of filming

Not really sure if a Mondeo which is a D segment car should be put up against E segment limousines, even if the pricing is similar. It's the S60 and XE class after all, which I know are way smaller, however, these are the areas where Mondeo would probably collect some points for lacking in the cabine materials or prestige areas.
Btw. was sitting in a pre-lift version of XF recently and the quality of materials isn't the greatest. in fact, I felt better even in the standard Mondeo. Only nice touches are the moving parts like vents or gear selector but quality of plastics feels just cheap. Copmaring to E class or Lexus GS, which probably has the best quality leather, it just doesn't give back cor the price you need to pay for it. Disappointing and I kind of feel like you are praising Jag only cause it's British, while Volvo here easily wins in terms of cabine quality.

Volvo and Jaguar are both premium car brands along with BMW, Mercedes and Audi.
Ford doesn-t compare to them.
Don-t get me wrong, Ford a good, definitely above average.
I-d say Ford Mondeos rank alongside VW Passats, A-R Giulias, and Vauxhall Insignias.
When it comes down to saloons: Tier 1(Premium): BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes, Volvo and AudiTier 2(Good): Volkswagen, Ford, Alfa-Romeo and VauxhallTier 3(Average): Peugeot, Renault, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mazda and CitroenTier 4-5(Below average and Bad): Subaru, Mitsubishi, Kia, Hyundai, Skoda, Suzuki, Seat, ETC

I rented a volvo S90 D4 inscription friday to monday. Omg. ever since that I really only dream of having one myself. I arrived at a party that friday and lots of great mercs and bmw were parked there. but. the s90 stole the show. Some had brand new red sporty mercs. but they actually was saying -driving a merc is a show-off. driving a Volvo S90 is a statement. I felt like I was the smart guy with brains. omg! I so wanna buy a new Volvo S90

The Ford Mondeo Vignale 2017 just looks like a fully loaded Ford Fusion. Do you wanna know what's more sad, is that the Ford Fusion competes with the Accord and Camry, but yet the Ford Mondeo Vignale 2017 looks like a Fusion. It's sad Ford, but they're known for more efficient reliability. So I am not trying to sent any hate to Ford but I am just doing a bit of comparison.

Volvo-s S90 competes with Merc-s E-Class, BMW-s 5 Series, Audi-s A6 and Jaguar-s XF.
Jaguar-s XE competes with Volvo-s S60, Merc-s C-Class, BMW-s 3 Series, Audi-s A4, VW-s Arteon and Alfa-Romeo-s Giulia.
Ford-s Modeo competes with Vauxhall-s Insignia and VW-s Passat.
You took 3 Saloons from 3 different tiers. This comparison is obvious and pointless.

You talk about quality but I notice in every saloon car from a Jaguar XF to a BMW 3 series they don't carpet the upper side of the boot, just leave it bare metal whereas the Mondeo is not typically a saloon, being mostly 5dr or estate but in the 4dr variant they actually bother to carpet it.

Now that I've seen a couple of S90s on the street I have to say it's got great presence. It feels long and low, the lines are elegant. A prettier car than the E class or 5 series, I think. Perhaps that's partly that it still looks new and fresh - yet with nothing in the body design that seems gimicky.

Who cares about the auto tailgate, what-s so hard about operating a tailgate manually? It-s really just to show off to
Others watching on.
and yes I-m aware that if your hands are full it makes your life easier. But everyone has an extra 5 seconds to sacrifice

So the only downside of the Mondeo is 'it's a Mondeo'. That's what you get when you fail at branding, Ford. If you want to fight in a higher segment, you need something new, not reuse old familiar car with an expensive kit and higher price.
