The Volkswagen Golf R. On the face of it, -33, 000 seems like a lot of money for a family hatchback - so what makes this one so special? I find out in this carwow in-depth review

Been thinking long and hard whether to 'upgrade' my Golf 7. 5R manual 3 door to a Golf 8R, and been looking back at some of the older reviews of the Golf 7. 5R including yours - my car is also lapiz blue but with the silver cadiz alloys and mirror caps. .. .for me it would be too much of a sacrifice and have decided to keep my Golf 7. 5R and have a subtle refresh with some gloss black pretoria alloys and mirror caps inspired by your video. .. . cheers Matt and all the best for 2021 -

I just had a demo of an R which had been upgraded, professionally, to 400BHP with suspension, etc too and well f--k me! It went up a very steep hill at well, not saying - taking the 5th on that one, but it handled it like it didn't exist and the guy didn't do more because it was wet and he wasn't an idiot, but it definitely would have. It felt like it was glued to the road too - no jitters, nothing, totally solid. I'd buy one if I had the money.

Yet to understand why anyone would pay the price for a new one of these. I never even realised how expensive they are because they look so average on the road. literally just looks like a cheap car. If I'm spending that amount I'd want something that looked far more upmarket.

Always find the Golf a hard car to get excited about, maybe because it looks so dull and boring, the shape has pretty much stayed the same for the last 1000 years it's the most boring looking car on the market along with its little sister the equally dull polo

I've got the golf R 2ltr DSG petrol 19 plate. It does 0-60 in 4. 3 seconds it's the best car I've ever had. The boot i would say is alot smaller than the regular golf though. It's a very fun drive if you get on the motorway alot. Pointless buy if just driving to work.

Thanks. Would appreciate votes from any existing owners for the following optional extras:
1. White Silver, Pure White or Oryx White
2. Dynamic Chassis Control
3. Leather or Race cloth
4. Pro Nav or Standard
5. Black Pretoria or Speilberg alloys
Thanks

What about the turbo / gearbox lag when you're trying to nip into a gap in the traffic. It's dangerously bad. I'm not so sorry to see the back of my R, because of it. Everyone seems blinded to this aspect of daily driving - or they're in VW's pockets.

I hope all of that condensation in the headlights at 2: 39 and 3: 44 isn-t a common problem with these. It rains a lot where I live and I want to get one of these, but not if the headlights are going to constantly fog up and become dirty on the inside

I want a golf gti but is 30k (41k fees) and once you leave the stealership you lose 50% so if you get a accident and it-s totaled assurance will give me 30% of the value,
And the assurance is 2k a year but on my car its 250$

Why hasn-t a front lsd been an option on the r, Incase it destroyed Audi-s performance sales,
Anyone who remembers the difference a front diff made to a newage wrx will know it would be the cherry on the cake for the r.
