It would be more economical and cheaper to modify one with a dead battery, by switching it with electrolysis pack and the putting solar cells on surfaces. There still would be the problem that these are not diesel engines but nonetheless they would be as economical as they could possibly become in the long run. There should be serious consideration of simply ditching the whole concept of large batteries, but instead focus on efficient energy transfer in which linear combustion will win in the future I think.

Yes the prius is designed by computers and wind tunnels, not to look good. The Niro looks like an anti-prius, they chose to limit the ugliness in favor is appearance even at the cost of a little fuel economy. The prius also looks to have a very high lift over height to get items in the back, the Niro seems easier to load. Don't care for the little floppy stick on the prius either, good to see a standard floor shifter on the Kia.

Totally understand why the Prius wins the test. Best hybrid around.
Prooven and longtime reliable, lowest fuel consumption of all cars, most roomy, in my eyes best because positive different looking car away from mainstream out on the market. More than enough and good reasons to buy one. I did it 3 years ago. Drove a Prius before and again after updating from number 3 to 4. Been there, done it and stay with it.

I am a Lyft driver and clock around 100, 000 miles per year. I've spent thousands of miles in each of these 3 cars. I love the Ioniq, I really like the Niro and absolutely hate the Prius. The Toyota is like driving a toy car. It's uncomfortable, noisy, wonky, terribly designed and embarrassing to drive. Oh. and the owner's manual is 720 pages long. Yes, I said 720 pages! Can't wait to get rid of this car!

I have a 2019 Ioniq hybrid Sel. Today in the morning i just flew by a 2018 Bmw 530i on the freeway who thought he was gonna smoke me Hahahaa. He didn't see it coming. Then on the way home a Camaro and a challenger were racing and I joined in and was right behind them for at least a mile before getting off the freeway while still showing 42mpg Lol. So yeah it's a great car

I inspect and drive loads of these cars all over the country and I can say from the bottom of my heart, that I have never ever seen in my entire life an uglier car than that Toyota Prius, I mean how ugly is that?
The Ioniq and that Kia are nice to drive and they look like cars, I really like the Hyundai Ioniq, but omg that Prius is soo ugly, it makes me wanna throw up.

thing is, you don't buy a Prius for driving or accelerating fast. you buy it because you like comfort and you LOVE hypermiling the shit out of cars. It is a fun car, but only if you have different standards for fun. Even a petrol head can enjoy it, if they learn to drive them and switch into the hypermiling mindset

The pricing in the UK is interesting, as there's not much in it. Where as here, in New Zealand, the Niro is the cheapest, especially when compared to the Ioniq. so I bought a Niro.

The comparison is not fair you can get 15 inch wheel on hyndia ionic same as the prius. Also its impossible for a prius to do 86 mpg unless quarter of the way is going down the hill. But still the prius beats the ionic by few miles no more then 5 miles per a gallon. Or its a lie

In December 2016, the Niro officially received a Guinness World Records title for the lowest fuel consumption by a hybrid vehicle, as it traveled from Los Angeles to New York City with a fuel consumption record of 76. 6 mpg. I-m not sure how you-re testing these cars Matt!
