When it comes to choosing a new family hatchback, it-s hard to look past these three contenders! The Focus and Golf are two of the most recognisable cars on the road, and while the Ceed may not have the same history or status as the others, there-s no denying that the latest model is up there with the best in its class! So, which one is the class leader for 2019? Stick with Mat to find out!

I own 1. 4 turbo Ceed 2019 and can tell you a bit after driving 6k km:
If you want to know more, just ask: )
Engine:
- the only good thing here (1. 4 AT), but keep reading: )
Clutch/AT:
- you need to press gas pretty deep to get drive fast from zero
Outside look:
- too low suspension, might easily break fron bumber when stopping in front of high pavement
- scratches, scratches everywhere. Millions of small scratches
Interior look:
- I own middle version without leather and some plastics are very. cheap
- seats are(oh my god, terrible, unformfortable, unless I don't know how to set my -chair- best for my back - tell me why I feel pain in top sid of my back as if the back of the seat was. to narrow. Also I feel a little dicomfort in -my seat- of you know what I mean - tild cannot be adjusted, so I raise my seat, lower it, again raise. cannot find the best position. Also, I feel as if there were two trunks behind my back, one hitting each other (maybe my unit is faulty)
- shining plastics (so called piano black) together with another plastic painted in silver might hurt eyes during summer days or cause eye strain
Lights:
- I have halogens in front
- Driging during night (or speed I wish to drive at) is limited by those low range lights. A bit disappointed.
- Front Leds can be purchased, but sometimes not possible to buy, because I own model M, and lights start from model L!
Multimedia:
- I own 7inch build-in tablet and if you are goint to use it only for playing mp3/ansewering calls, then it's sufficient. Navi now ships with a. 10. 25 inch display that is totally a big misunderstangind.
Loudiness:
- driving below 60 - okay, above loud, 140km/h veeery loud, as if there was some gap sucking air through a tight hole.
Health:
- driving after some cheap diesel with low quality fuel. I feel its smell in my cabin, so where the heck is my cabin filter? Or again, some hole i AC canal?
- my -idle- leg hurts me a bit (I have AT. Again, seats not adjusted properly, or some bad design of seats?
PR/adverts
- I see a lot of comments, delights from people having Slavakian names where. factory in Europe is located. Hmm, it's not fair.
Versions/models:
- I wanted to buy L version, because it had heated seats, better seats (eco leather, but a small compromise from my side) and this would also allow me to have LEDS, safety packa, automatic cruise control, but. I didn't buy it because dealer did not want to replace from windshield with a classic non heated one. You will ask why? Because heated one has big vertical strips everywhere and caused a big discomfort while driving.
- In some countries, models can have different equipment - not sure why (costs, preferences) and models S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL, Ultra are not configurable at all. Very disappointing.
Overral rating:
- 3/5, comfort, shining plastics, seats. things to improve in 2021 model

Here was much mix, when u test like here 3 diffrent car model is important that all is the same version, if not it be wrong. Me too believe Focus is maybe the best choice, but Ceed is not bad, Golf, well, is a smaller car then this to others in the test here, only line them up together and u see it. My meaning is that VW Jetta is more same size, medium, as Ceed and Focus, not Golf. Golf is more too compare too now Mazda 3, Honda Civic, maybe Hyndai i20 in size, but not in quality and popularity of course.

And but if you want the best Automatic and still want to shift, i think you can better choose a golf m7 is think? I am now looking for or the comfortline and then the 40 year cup edition because i dont like ''leather'' seats or the highline version, in comperssison or i can buy a little younger golf 7 comfort or an older highline model. are there big changes in model from 2013 and lets say 2015? I hope to hear from you: ) Kind regards, Nathanael from the Netherlands

If you want to buy a car for 15 years pick the kia ceed, 7 years guarantee, and after you have a car with no problem or small problem, golf it's nice car premium name, but with problems and expensive problem, if your country is in west Europe it's OK because you can buy a new after 8 years, but if you stay in Greece or South Europe you can't buy or you can't pay the problems, the Ford it's good car I think better than Vf, but kia it's the best for the future.

Just don't understand why they don't do an awd variant of the focus, I'd have one soon as, just put a milder version of the RS awd system and be done. Love everything about the focus having owned many over the years and my current car, awd would just give a little more traction on our mostly wet, damp and poor roads in the UK and give a little more safety even if it does sacrifice a bit of mpg.

What about the Focus back seats ambient light? it's just so unstable when you press it that it seems its gonna fall at any moment, besides the focus rears doors panels are suspiciously soft, if you press them with your fingers they move way too much, is this normal? I went one day to see the car and got really disapointed because of the poor quality in the rear seats.

I love Matt but how come none of these expert reviewers never mention chronic reliability issues? I don't care how well the Focus handles if it's powershift transmission is going to fail in less than 2 years. Stop focusing on soft touch materials and mention real issues. We actually have to pay for these things unlike you guys: D

Funny how you are surprised with the practicality of the Golf. I mean come on, it's a Volkswagen.
Also, I own a Golf 7 Variant (so the spaceback variant, and it feels like glued to the road on curvy roads. I don't experience something along the lines of it -going wide-, as you described.

I don't know, but I feel that between driving them, the wheels and tires made quite a bit of difference. The best would be to test similar priced models to know witch one is the best for the buck. Otherwise you can buy a more exensive car and that is usually better.

When you want to carry -a lot of stuff- you may just take this black dash thing and put it at home.
BTW with the lower place on VW how much place you still have? Same? Or less? Just because you have extra place to put the black dash?
