This is the all-new Mazda 3! Rolling in with a sleek exterior and a high-quality interior, on the face of it the new Mazda 3 may have what it takes to tempt you away from premium hatchbacks like the BMW 1 Series and Mercedes A-Class! But is it the same story when you dig a little deeper and test out what it-s like to drive, along with how practical it is? Join Mat for his latest review to find out!

The plus points. Bose sound system is good, info screen is large and well positioned. Gearbox is sweet, steering is sharp and car feels planted, brakes are good and feel is nice. Seat is comfortable. Clocks are easy to read clutch is nice. Plenty of space in the boot with rear seats down. Smooth running. Heating equipment is excellent, outside cameras are good
Bad bits. Door mirrors are in the way and can restrict view entering roundabouts- c pillars quite large too, wind noise, windows don't self clear when lowered, auto handbrake. Makes pulling away a bit of a gamble - sometimes fine others, it wants to stall so it needs a rev (maybe because I've got the awd version.
It's no slouch when it wants to go and it's very comfortable and quite practical. Once you get used to the fact it tries to drive FOR you, and get it to do as its told, it's a good fun car. Worth the money, unless you're a badge snob.

I do think the new Mazda 3 is a good car. It looks well, it has a good amount of standard equipment and a good reliability reputation. It ticks all the right boxes for me. I like the way Mazda has kept things old school, as it stands out from ford's ecoboost and vws turbocharged petrol engines. I like the skyactiv-x engine, as mat said you have got the efficiency of a diesel engine and the smoothness of a petrol engine. Mazda are great to continue with petrol and diesel engine as electric cars aren't as green as you would think. The battery production for an ev is worse for the environment than production of combustion engines.
The environmental footprint from electric cars is far worse than any combustion engine. The large battery that evs use is made out of lithium and like any raw material, it needs to be mined, and the mining process produces alot of greenhouse gases.

It's a brilliant car. You can also have a bit color inside. So that's perfect in my eyes. Not to much trendy Andy, all very well thought out for the front passengers. The engines are OK for a daily shopping trolley and they are bulletproof. I actually like it more then all the 3 Zylinder Turbos despite it's lag of low end torque. It's just how a engine used to feel. I find it refreshing. I just wish the 2. 5 Turbo would come to Europe. It's on sale in America. That kicks it up quite a notch. But it's a good daily anyways. Way more likable than any VW product. It has a bit of character. It's not a Miata, but it's fun.

I own a 2020 Mazda 3 Skyactive X which replaced my 2017 BMW 116D. I admit I used to be a badge snob but this car has changed my mind. It is incredibly good value for money. Whilst I sometimes miss the turbo-charged engine on my old BMW this car is actually pretty good fun to drive. When it comes to equipment. well this car came with pretty much every gadget and safety feature you could possibly ask for. If you want all those features on a BMW be prepared to spend a fortune.

Simply THE BEST car in it's class. I love the design! -
Naturally aspirated engines and Automatic transmission is the way to go for me. Not a big fan of CVT tranny's and turbocharged engines. -
It feels more engaging to drives than it's competitors and more premium of a car for with better use of materials. TOP safety ratings too. -
Most of them are MADE IN JAPAN, which is a huge factor for me. -
Awesome package all around. -
Great Job Mazda!

I-m not sure about the superchargers on Skyactiv-X. The main difference is in the fuel delivery and combustion technology. Like you said, best of both worlds - it partially utilises compression ignition known from diesels on a petrol engine. But it-s even better than in the diesels. Extreme efficiency and low emissions on a 140kW engine. For me it-s a crossover from engineering to art.

This is such a fantastic car. In Canada I bought one of these fully loaded and it cost only half of what my loaded 330i did, and trust me I drive them back to back sometimes and I just keep comparing it to the 3 series and tbh I think mazda is offering features and quality that's up to par with those brands. And mazda offers unlimited mileage warranty which bmw does not.

That Mazda 3 is for me the only attractive car in the world right now, not including super cars. There is nothing else that has a simple attractive design. all the rest look bad. Although. Peugeot are doing some different stuff and the Jag XE looks good i suppose. Landrover defender, but that's a performance car. Mazda 3 the only great looking normal car.

My 2016 model Mazda 3's Infotainment console went on endless loop. Hard reboot did not work. Mazda dealership diagnosed it as a dead CMU (the brains of the console. Will cost $1300. 00 to replace. They don't know when part will arrive. Last time my rear tail light cracked, it took 4 months to get the part. I wonder how long the CMU will take.

the top spec in my country comes with red leather and 2l engine used in the CX30.
I love Mazda for deep load boots, my girlfriend has a T Cross and we have had stuff roll out on our incl8ned driveway. I live on the beach so our driveway is uphill and we have had eggs, drinks and a gas cylinder roll out. I'm a fan of some load lips
