Watch out, Elon - Porsche has gone ELECTRIC! Introducing the Porsche Taycan! This EV supercar will arrive with two models available, the Turbo and the Turbo S, with the latter producing over 760hp from its two electric motors! Couple that with a 0-60mph time of less than 3 seconds, and we-re looking at the first real competitor to the Tesla Model S P100D! But is it better than the class-leading Tesla? A lot to like there. Of course, in Porsche fashion the options list is a long one - on the US site you can configure the S version with $52K worth of non-standard equipment (excluding any -accessories-) Gets the price up to over $230K. Some of those items seem -necessary-, so you feel like they've been left off as a way of falsely -keeping the base price down-, odd in a car at this price. Electric folding side mirrors: $330. Parking assist: $950. Lane Change Assist: $1200. Adaptive Cruise Control (yes): $2050. Strangest of all are two required options. Yes, first to appear when you click the options tab are two things you HAVE TO BUY before moving forward: A Mobile Charger Connect at $1120 (or the currently unavailable version with Home Energy Manager for $1660) AND the panoramic roof at $1460. Anyway, I guess Porsche buyers are used to this, so it may not make any difference.

It has a 2 speed transmission so that it can drive more efficiently, but its range is nowhere near that of a model S with no transmission.
I'm not trying to be negative, but I don't see this vehicle being all that successful.
It's a beautiful car, but its specs aren't on par with the model S that cost $80000 less.
I don't see how they are making any money on it.
If they make a cheaper version, it will have even less power and range.
There don't appear to be any autonomous features compared to a tesla.
People will keep comparing it to a tesla.
Porsche is trying to beat Tesla by building a more expensive less capable car.
If this vehicle is too successful then it will cut into there ICE car sales, and that's where they make the real money.

It would be a close race between the 2 with both fully charged i feel like the Porsche may win the quarter mile by tenths of a second because i feel like it will be faster at higher speeds and that the tesla would win 0-60 but the fact that porshe can do it over and over again with no power loss is a great advantage when making many pulls but i believe that you can do 30-40 ludicrous pulls before battery is gone and that's quite a bit but teslas roadster is going to put them both to shame and was really hoping porshe would have made theirs compete with the roadster and not the family sedan model s come on Porsche make a roadster that will beat teslas and then we are talking AWESOME ---

Nice you want to compare Tesla a Performance with Porsche Taycan? Haha you say European cars are better when you have have to pay extra for the car to find a place to charge. Like after you compete making your electric Porsche you pay over 220 thousand? And then you go and get you a Tesla x performance that drives all alone in the streets. Please don-t say anything until you own a Tesla in your garage and drive it. You can-t compare those two. Tesla is far far far away from there. Compare Tesla Roadster with this Porsche and we-ll see, cas price do matters and this is too overpriced.

Only reason a Tycan has a gear box cause there DEALERS demanded it, seens EVs don't have anything to repair a gear box at lest makes you forced to push out a 10k every 15th year or so. Its not cause of speed, you gain nothing in speed with a gear box in an EV thats the dumbest argument iw heard THERE ARE NO GEARS, THATS WHY YOU DONT NEED A GEAR BOX. YOU DO KNOW WHAT A GEAR IS? ROUND THING WITH EDGES ON IT THAT SPINS AROUND? IF ANYTHING IT MAKES THE TAYCAN SLOWER. FK the IQ on this guy. Is so low

Most of the better-than-Tesla characteristics are useless for the 99. 99999% of the people. Who needs to go from 0 to 60 in 2. 8 seconds repeatedly one run after the other, who needs to go over 250 mph (btw speed in tesla is limited by software, The important staff for most of us is. range, superchargers infrastructure and autopilot (or some sort of driver assistance). seems that in 2 areas porsche (vm) is behind and no autopilot at all. also price seems that is at least 2x.

There's no question that this car is a beast. None. The problem I have with it and all ev's other than Tesla is the infrastructure in which they ALL need to be useful. A trip from LA to Vegas would be a pain in the rear. So, after spending nearly 200k, you have that anxiety in the pit of your stomach whenever you want to take a road trip. Sure, the buyer of this car probably has a half dozen others, which makes this not a real attempt to compete. imo

In terms of convenience, the Tesla wins. But damn, that Porsche looks goooooooood. And is also pretty fast. Porsche is also known for understating 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. For example, Porsche said that the 918s would only go to 60 in 2. 6 seconds. Nonsense, it goes to 60 in around 2. 3-2. 5. The 2017 turbo s, goes from 0-60 in around 2. 5 seconds, not 2. 8. Both can do quarter miles around 10. 3 seconds.

OMG! This has got to be embarrassing for Porsche. EPA numbers just out - and Taycan turbo gets only 201 miles range. The most expensive EV has the least range - even less than the woeful E-Tron - it-s VW stablemate. Even worse, this means the other Taycan variants will likely have less than 200 mi range!

This -German Engineered- Taycan will get raped in a 1/4, 1/2, 1/1 mile drag race. Taycan on paper is a flop, except the looks. Significantly less range, inferior autopilot, no supercharger support, 2 gear transmission hype BS, but still lost in a 1/4 mile 10. 8 vs 10. 6.
