Change your car with Carwow: This is the new Suzuki Swift! Suzuki’s smallest hatchback has been updated for 2025, and Mat’s about to find out if it’s the best choice over competitors like the Peugeot 208 and Renault Clio. So let’s take a closer look at the car. Starting with the design, it looks pretty smart from the front, with new headlights and an updated front grille. Along the side, there are creases to give the car a bit of definition, while at the back the Swift appears unusually wide despite it only being a small car. On the inside, there are quite a lot of scratchy plastics throughout, although it’s no surprise for a car at this price point. That being said, some nice touches remain, like leather on the steering wheel and gear selector. There’s a small infotainment screen in the centre of the dash, while there are (thankfully) some physical buttons for the climate controls. The Swift also comes with analogue dials, which is always nice to see in an age of digital dial screens! When it comes to configuring the car, it’s an easy one, as there are only two trims available and one engine. The Swift is powered by a 1. 2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 82hp, and it comes with either a 5-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The Swift starts from just 19, 200, rising to 20, 300 for the top-of-the-range Ultra edition. So is it the best small car to buy in 2024 Stick with Mat to see for yourself! Bad audio on this review. Try a different mic.
The view-blocking display screen is absurd and laggy as well.
Older style Swifts were not as bulgy and too like other cars. I also noted the scratchy plastic and it seems inferior to older models, as is the boot space, which doesn't follow the car's panel shape and therefore some space has been wasted.
The venerable, reliable 3 cylinder 1. 2 engine by Suzuki has been used on many cars over the years and is excellent.
I just cannot understand why Suzuki messed with the Swift to absolutely no advantage and failed to go full hybrid.
It will not sell very well because of its imitative change for the sake of change.

I actually owned a 2019 Suzuki swift with the booster jet engine which was turbocharged one of the very best engines ever put in the Suzuki swift I would not buy the new model because the engine doesn’t have enough power from the engine also the car with the booster jet came with 6 speed manual gearbox or the 6 speed automatic gearbox and they were really very good cars if I was buying another Suzuki swift I would buy the Suzuki swift sport

This car is just exemplifying all things wrong with the car industry today: It has almost doubled in price in just two decades, actually is ugly now and too heavy with complexity and weight adding mild hybrid system. At least it works in this model and actually benefit consumption rates. On the contrary the Celerio had better consumption rates than it's replacement, the Ignis, also with a mild hybrid system. That is just pathetic!

This Car has the Second most Fuel Efficient Engine In the UK getting close to 100 mpg
City Driving is one of the Best however the Most Fuel Efficient Engine in the U. K is the One in the Toyota Yaris delivering close to 120 Mpg in the City this Cars are so fuel Efficient the on-board Computer fail to understand & list their mpg giving it 80 mpg when in reality the car has done far better than that

I recently bought a S-Cross after researching what to get next. Don't see many Suzuki's around really so kind of forgot they did cars tbh. Had a couple of Suzuki motorbikes over the years and always been awesome. Did a test drive and did the deal there and there. Maybe it's the manual box, or the simple nature of it, but I have fallen in love with driving again. Suzuki. never change please!

6mths ago we bought our second swift. We still have the first one which has now done over 190000 miles. Plastics are hard ( as they were in the previous one ) but they wear very well and are tough. It's a great nimble car, not super fast but fun. We get 59mpg out of ours. The previous one has been super reliable, so fingers crossed for this one. 7 yr warranty is great too.

I had the 1st and 2nd gen Swift and both were great cars. Affordable, one of the best to drive in their own class and even comparing to some more expensive cars. Always passed with flying colors in MOT too (even got compliments from the inspector, it's like a poor mans Yaris. Only reason I wouldn't get one these days is that they don't (yet) make an electric version.

sooooo. as a '06 swift owner myself. at 6: 50 are you guys sure there is no way to fold the rear seats another time. My swift has a, frankly very hidden, little cord you can pull to fold the seats another time (basically into the rear footwell) and I can't see Suzuki going backwards in features especially since this supposedly is the top spec model.

Matt, suzuki is top seller in india, besides sometimes hyundai creta sells in top 1 some months, otherwise its mostly 6 suzuki cars in top 6 alone, swift had been selling 10, 000 units every month since it came out, till date, i think its close its 20th year anniversary, if not more

It is great that it has analog things, most cars nowadays don’t and I don’t like screens when driving, it is also great that it has a manual gear box: 3
The thing is that I don’t think is cheat AT ALL, I mean, I like it but it is too expensive, cheap is like 12-14K not 20k

I imagine it rattles like a tin can. I can't stand the craze of SUVs and Utes (pickups) in Australia, but I also don't understand why the English love these tiny hatchbacks. They're just not comfortable or particularly efficient, and their fuel efficiency isn't that much better.

The problem with this is that it used to be a budget car but now its too much. I understand the suzuki dependability and ruggedness. These things last forever. But theres just so many more alternatives now. Im not speaking for UK btw im from another country

The Indian version of the same vehicle has literally zero ratings in crash tests. But the same Model's have stronger Chassis, Build, Pillars, Body in Foreign Markets. thousands itf accident's of suzuki vehicle's in India proved that suzuki makes tin cans

Fuel cap lock lever to prevent crims stealing petrol through a garden hose.
Australia/NZ/SE Asia markets, Japanese is the only way to go for durability.
Euro cars are costly to maintain, insure, and in end, turn out to be crap. esp French cars.

1. 2 engines, 3cyl, looks like a teapot, and it’s expensive. It’s not Suzuki’s fault, it’s most of the cars in today’s market. it won’t even stop decently, not even the brakes are good I’d much rather buy an older car than anything on sale today.

As an '18 Sport owner im so disappointed that this car wont be receiving a Sport model. I'd be interested in the upgrade to a refined K14C motor if it made the same power as my car with all the amenities of the new interior and more mature look overall.

8: 07 perhaps it's due to gas stations in Japan (and most Asian countries)
They help you fill up your fuel, so you can relax in the car and just drive off after you pay when they bring you the bill and card machine. A service, more than a product.

19k pound Meaning in india it is 20 lakh Not sure the surge of the market in UK, but for swift if it's 19k, theres should something on the car's quality which couldve been better than the indian version. Cuz here it's just starts with 7k pound.

Give me a break Mat; this is an inexpensive car and I don't care about scratchy plastics. maybe it's all the car most people really need. Single people, couples, or a safe first car for new drivers. I think that your over critical.

I've got a 2018 swift sport with the 1. 4 turbo. It's a fantastic little car for the city or punching it through the mountains.
I've learned to live with the amount of road and cabin noise, but I do wish it was more insulated.
