How can someone campare Toyota and Lexus, with Hyundai & Genesis? This is insane. Toyota is a car manufacturing company which manufacturers (tested and proofed) 99. 99% best quality very reliable and durable cars for ages now. I mean how many tried to kill a Toyota in very famous TV shows. Non of them achieved it and look at Australia its the land cruiser nation. Right? Take a look at UN. Only land cruisers because Toyota is reliable cheap to maintain. And what Lexus did is taking it bit further and add a bit luxury to the same qualities.

Genesis is one to avoid. My friend is a car sales rep at Genesis in Sydney and she let em drive the G70. Yes it had a great interior but boy was it was dreary to drive. Also sounded terrible. If I bought that car I would be terribly disappointed. A BMW 440i is so much more special. I can say you can safely avoid this. If you want an S class buy an S class, if you can-t afford buy an E class. End of story. Genesis is not the answer

Problem with this is that the everyday Man On The Corner won-t know what it is. For me there is no brand history its seouless and it would not Have A Hold On My Heart the way an Alfa or a Jag could. Hyundai could be getting In Too Deep by going after the established Germans. I mean Infiniti only made Ripples not waves with UK consumers. I-d hate to see them Throwing It All Away after the superb Ionic 5. Thats All.

I like the Genesis better for looks. Yes, you are right the car is a cross between a Mercedes E class (front) and an Audi A8 (side. The interior has BMW's dash and knobs. Hyundai chose to imitate the Japanese when it comes to naming their divisions. Hyundai for everyday chores, Genesis for Luxury. By the way in the beginning there was Acura from Honda then Lexus from Toyota Matt.

I drove an early Genesis in South Korea in 2012 and I have to say that it was smoooooooth. I-ve never driven an Audi, Mercedes, or BMW cars but it is a solid well built car, extremely well equipped, very very well finished, and one of the most comfortable cars I-ve ever sat in or driven. These are beautiful cars with plenty of torque.

Nice looking car with lots of gadgets and comfort. The added advantage is the customer service levels from a Hyundai and this might be what separates it from Mercedes. As we are leaving the EU it might also be the way we can buy a luxury car without added tariffs.

I must admit, it looks very nice and luxurious, probably more than an E-class and 5-serie, but it leaves me a bit confused, the price is not that far off from the germans and if I had to opt for a diesel, bmw still offers that sweet and torquey 6cyl

I've never seen such concentration of Maybachs like in Seoul. So G80 and Kia K9 are literally on every corner there. Tho if you're driving one yourself, you'll likely to be considered as a private driver rather than the owner.

The Genesis is a refreshing option to greedy competitors like MB, Audi og BMW that thinks it's alright to deliver their cars with one seat and a steering wheel cause anything more is very expensive extra equipment.

Biggest reason to consider one of these is that it'll be massively more reliable than anything from Germany or Italy. Maybe not as reliable as something from Japan but close and probably a lot cheaper.
