This is the all-new Mercedes GLA! The baby of Mercedes-s SUV range has been updated to take on the likes of the Audi Q3 and BMW X1. But after a relatively poor showing in the last generation, does this jacked-up A-Class have what it takes, or are the competitors a better option for you? Mat-s taking a closer look, so stick around and join him for this in-depth review!

Hi Matt, I love your reviews, but I have to ask, what is it with you and Mercedes? Mercedes is a premium car and they have earned their name. You are never happy with whatever Mercedes has to offer. You are always critical about everything that is made by Mercedes. GLA is a beautiful looking car with really high class interiors, but you can never stop criticising. You need to find out what is bothering you that is making you so pissed off about Mercedes.

I'd like you to benchmark it against my 2007 Lexus RX450H. I have road tested the Merc, the new RAV4, the Volvo XC40 and The Lexus is quieter at speed and more comfortable than all of them, keyless entry and lane assist seems the only 'advances'. The Lexus cost 6k with 50k miles a year ago and its the 'greenest' option as well.

Here in the US the Merc prices have skyrocketed. The base GLA 250 (slow, useless) with AWD are $44K on the dealer lots and these cars are really too small to be used as SUVs. Seriously, the RDX and XC60 are just so much better all around than the GLA. There is no reason to buy a non-AMG Merc anymore.

I would love if the would put the new C class (large central info screen) interior in to the GLA. They took the S class dash design and put it in the new C Class which is due to be released soon but would be nice if the GLA got it also. Maybe they will in the next release?

Matt, just a slight correction the new Audi Q3 2020 version comes with Mild Hybrid system which means you end up with a 48v battery and DC-DC convertor in the boot eating into the available space and cannot lower the boot floor either. argh.

Other than the display screen, it lacks any outstanding features. It's almost as if they did not know what to do with the space below it so they said -F--- it, we''ll throw in some vents and they'll never notice. -

My mom took the GLA for a test drive and its the worst Mercedes I-ve ever been in.
She has a A class right now and its much better quality in that one
I recomend the A class or GLC over the GLA!

I bought one 2 Months ago very pleased with it, it does 45 miles to the gallon which very important now a days, and it does not have that Renault Engine the last one had.

Matt, you are reviewing a 43g car, not a 33g car. 43g can buy a GLC or X3. So many things in this video does not come in standard/lower trim. This is a useless review.

I-m quite surprised how few of these GLAs I have seen. only remember seeing maybe no more than 4, but I have always seen quite a few of the last gen one
