I just watched a 1/4 mile drag race modified stock session where the the Plaid owner was warned after his first run that he would be banned if his ET fell below 10. 00 seconds without a roll cage and if he exceeded 150 in the trap without a parachute. His next five runs were essentially 1/8 mile and hard braking to stay over 10. 00 seconds and under 150 at the trap. He was coming across at 99 or 102 mph and just a scooch over 10. 0 seconds and still winning most of the heats. He worked hard to keep from being thrown out of the track. The driver claimed he can run flat out is to either rent out a track for private runs or find a track that is ignoring association rules. Drag racing may become seeing who has to hit the brakes the earliest to stay above the ET requirements and below the trap time requirements.
He does not mind attaching a chute before a race but is pondering the need for a roll cage on his daily driver. That is a really strange statement.
Personal opinion, Neither 600 miles nor sub 1. 99 0-60 is necessary for a vehicle that does not tow. I suspect the long range being proposed is more a question of achieving the necessary power density to power the motors. I expect performance EV's that will never see a trailer hitch will gravitate to 300-400 miles on the highest power-density formulations. The 600-mile range is covering up that, at 300-miles, the battery pack proposed cannot support much more than 700 Hp.
So there reveals the possible advantage of the Tesla Roadster. If their performance formulation has significantly higher power density they will need less battery to support >1, 000 Hp. With the chassis significantly lighter than the Plaid it will not have to reach as high into the > 1, 000 Hp stratosphere in order to turn in compelling performance specs. Again, the specs may only be bragging rights as it will surely violate NHRA rules significantly worse than the Plaid. Unless ones heart is in 120+ trap in the 1/8th owners will struggle to demonstrate demonstrable difference among all the Supercars.
The supercars are advertising that the company gets paid for rather than having to pay for it. I think the Tesla 2nd-Gen Roadster will be more effective than most of the others because, above all, it will be mass-produced and showing up many more places to be seen.

Motors in the wheels is a mistake, for a number of reasons. The big two are: Unsprung weight and vibration/shock being really bad for the motors. If you put that much unsprung weight on the wheels, your ride will suffer, and if you put your motors out there they're not going to have a typically long life normal to an electric motor. They will be exposed to vibration, shock and environmental effects much greater than if they were located inboard and protected.
I would LOVE it if Jag came out with a Williams engineered car -- but it's still not going to be remotely competition for a Tesla, because it will be 10x the price. You can't make an entire carbon fibre car, with over 1300 HP, and still sell it for less than $100, 000. I mean, it would be awesome if you did, but you may as well wish for unicorns.

For an F Type, even the SVR model, 1, 360 hp seems like overkill, so maybe another super track focused model called the F-Type SVR GTR or something? Basically a 1, 360 hp EV that, since it is so light, can rip around a track with ease. That would destroy everything at Pikes Peak, especially since you don't have to worry about losing power as you go up the hill. Maybe even make a road legal version called the SVR GTR-S with smaller aero (like Senna level?

I hate electric cars they don't look very good a lot of them and they're expensive and the batteries only last about 15 years then you have to spend thousands and thousands of pounds on new batteries. Petrol cars if you take care of them can last 25 years or more, hell some are even 40 years old and running fine. Plus charging the electric cars takes hours whereas filling up with petrol takes about two minutes.

Sure it will be higher performance and greater range than the Tesla Model S except that it will cost 2x more than the Tesla. These high range EV's are only affordable for the rich. The average person will have to settle for a Kia, Chevy or Ford for a regular EV or plug-in Hybrid or Toyota for a Hybrid. Oh wait the Toyota Hybrid has a 1 year waiting list now.

600+ miles is just not required - it will be many many years before that kind of battery capacity is available to the masses, and it's pointless anyway as long as charging infrastructure is up to the task. Tesla is already there, and the others are slowly catching. 250 miles and then a 30 minute stop is good enough for anybody, despite what they may think.

Hopefully top performance super cars will drive the technology jump to support and pay for the high range batteries development. With time EV's should get -cheaper- for everyone (or at least even out the cost benefits) but on the meantime we common people are trying to jump on the EV fad and are failing miserably.

Every configuration has all that carbon fiber? Automotive manufacturers will also have to pay Williams to use that platform? Well good news is that if you can afford to buy a roadster you can at least afford to buy the base model of this platform. I wouldn't be surprised if the top end spec cost over $500k.

Same for the companies that ordered their Semi.
10 full years since the Model S came on sale and they've added 3 cars. And investor have given them an actual trillion as a reward.
