Cupra Born review: The best small EV?

Cupra Born review: The best small EV?

FBTwitterReddit

video description

Rating: 4.5; Vote: 2
It s an electric family hatchback that promises a bit of sporting edge, and it s hoping to compete with alternatives like the VW ID. 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. And at a glance, the Born certainly looks sportier than the ID. 3, with its huge roof spoiler and distinctive side skirts! Up front it has a much sharper face than the ID. 3, too, and there are some striking copper-coloured accents for a bit of extra visual wow factor. The Born arguably looks cooler than the ID. 3 inside the cabin, as well. It comes with suede-effect upholstery and body-hugging seats that hold you snugly in place around corners. You get a 12-inch infotainment system on the dash with some sharp-looking graphics and plenty of tech, but the accompanying touch sensitive controls are a bit of pain to use. There are two battery options for the Cupra Born. The 50kWh battery has a claimed range of 260miles, and should take 9 hours to charge using a 7kW wall charger. The bigger 77kWh battery pack, meanwhile, comes with a range of up to 340miles and takes 12 hours to charge. Prices for the Cupra Born start at 34, 715, rising to 41, 975 for the range-topping models. So, should you consider the Cupra Born over the VW ID. 3? Stick with Mat to find out!

Hello Matt! Love your videos!
Would you consider making a part in your video reviews where you show how the external lights (and maybe the interior ones too) look at night e. g. back tailgate lights, front daily running lights + headlights and lastly the turn indicator lights? Would be nice to see that as some of the cars have some great designs!

Hi, I watch all of your videos and I must say you're review are really good but can I suggest something that is missing? Can you add interior lighting of the cars in the dark/night. I recently drove a car and night time came and was a dark affair, front and back unlike some cars like Merc who a literally a disco ball. Thanks you

That 6. 7 looked almost pedestrian. No noise and no involvement. You can make new cars as green as baby unicorns and as quiet as a mouse fart but they are about as stimulating as a 3 hour documentary about knitting.

Costs more than a real performance cupra did one year ago. Funny to see it has the same pedals as my ICE car. Was hoping they'd fix the infotainment button issue. Good to see they've sorted the cupholders.

The drive mode selector obstructs the light controls - only on RHD cars. RHD versions of card that were designed as LHD cars always have some compromises in the positioning of certain controls.

I wonder how people make profits from this market, most people endorse HOLDING till it rises, however, the reality is, we can't preserve holding forever, at some point we have to take profits.

I like the exterior but the interior is too much style over substance, with cool looking but useless touch sensitive buttons and a slick looking arm rest with no height adjustment.

I love the Cupras design, but here in Belgium its pricing just doesn t make any sense Same goes for the model3 Which is for some reason way more expensive then comparable cars.

The born basically is an Id. 3 with most of the interiors fixed and the front.
I actually don't get what are the similar-priced alternatives that are faster.

I see the wipers are still back to front for RHD cars, similar to ID. 3. Pity, thought by now they would have the lead wiper on the drivers' side.
