This is the new BMW X1 - and, for the first time ever, you can also get the X1 as a fully-electric car called the BMW iX1! Let s start off with the X1. It s had some design tweaks from the previous model, including thinner headlights and more angular brake lights, and comes with the option of huge 20-inch alloy wheels for the first time. The biggest changes come inside the cabin though, where the X1 is completely different to older BMWs because most of the buttons have been removed! The only physical controls are on the steering wheel and floating armrest between the front seats. Instead, you re meant to control everything by using the Hey BMW personal assistant. You can get the new X1 with a range of petrol and diesel engine options, including some with mild-hybrid tech. BMW has also developed two new plug-in hybrid engines for the X1. The entry-level 25e produces 245hp and can make 0-60 in 6. 8 seconds, while the quicker 30e version gets 326hp in total and a 0-60mph time of 5. 7 seconds. The new all-electric BMW iX1, meanwhile, has dual motors that can produce a combined 313hp and accelerate from 0-60mph in 5. 7 seconds. It should have a range of 272 miles, which is more than the range of the Mercedes EQA. The X1 goes on sale later in 2022, with prices starting from just over 35, 000 and rising to almost 47, 000 for the top-spec 23d M Sport Premiere Pro. Plug-in hybrids and the new electric iX1 will go on sale soon after, with the EV expected to set you back more than 50, 000. autos: I m not a fan of BMW s to be honest but I m a fan of cars in general, the grille I think is a issue in design and in my opinion the Achilles tendon s of BMW s is being for decades their interiors design, in my opinion very plain for the most expensive brand out of the big German 3 carmakers, improved I think so but there s a lot more room for better design!

Bmw is absolutelly behindnthe hybrid technology, but the again so are many others. With my parents Rav4, who regularly drive 400km during a weekend average between 2, 5 to 4, 1 l/100km. I even managed to drive 98km on its electric power alone on a rather twisty finnish 2 lane highway when the projected range of its electric motor was at 86km. With the older 225 my parents had, i managed about 42km and average fuel consumption at minimum was 6, 9l/100km and this was with the upgraded batteries, so 8km less than projected. The energy efficiency and recovery of toyotas hybrids is phenominal

Guy 1: We should all go electric because it's good for the environment
Guy 2: We get electricity from COAL burning power plants which in the USA we haven't even built a new one in over 45 years.
Guy 3: Yes if everyone buys an electric car the power grid will collapse
Bald headed old guy: The next attack will be cyber attack in the future you vill own Nothing and be happy

Surely not my kind of Bimmer, but I don t understand that raised nose area on the bonnet - would perhaps make sense on a large SUV off-roader needing some large weird nose masculinity, but on the smallest of the series. Overall the front face is not a looker IMO - but perhaps for the Chinese market it s spot on IDK.

Probably the best looking model in the current BMW range which is very much a relative term because it is still quite ugly. Once again, they have slapped a huge grille on the front but failed to style the rest of the front around it. I iamgine that BMWs usual vanity led buyers will still flock to it.

On the one hand, Bmw is sticking up with there ordinary designs like the 3 series or the X1. On the other hand, Bmw is extremely brave with there new designs when we look at the 4 series or 7 series. In my opinion thats a perfect combination and bmw stands out clearly from the competition.

The old X1 looked like the cheapest BMW and was a shame, especially the interior. This new one is so much better! Looks a lot nicer in the outside, the interior looks as a BMW interior should and yes the grill is bigger but it s actually proportional to the rest of the body

Acceptable! Definitely 100 times better than the ugly, disgusting, and hideous new 7-Series, but not perfect, especially the interior with that exposed digital display left on the dash without any frame around it and no buttons for climate control

Imagine paying 50k for a 1 series? No doubt nobody can afford that so theyll need to finance it making it cost more like 55k. Absolute rip off. Like 3 times the average salary for an average car. Soon we will be taking out mortgages to buy cars

For me personally, BMW gets worse over time. From the bugs bunny teeth on the 4 series, to Peppa the pig nose here and huge crab claws rear lights. What are they thinking? The interior thankfully gets better on every update.
