Is the Porsche 918 Spyder the greatest Porsche of all time? There s only one way to find out - an all-new, in-depth Mat Watson review! Mat s flown over to Germany to get his hands on this legendary Porsche hypercar to see if it can still live up to its legendary status. So let s take a closer look Starting with the power unit, it comes equipped with a glorious 4. 6-litre naturally-aspirated V8 along with TWO electric motors to put down a monumental 887hp and 1, 280Nm of torque! As a result, the 918 Spyder can hit 60mph in just 2. 6 seconds and has a top speed of 214mph! It s not all about the power though - the 918 Spyder looks absolutely glorious. All the vents from the front to the back serve a purpose (there s no fakery here) and the top-mounted exhaust pipes look incredible. The quality continues not the inside, too, with high-quality materials found throughout.

Hi, VW golf GTE owner here. plug in hybrid. When I give it the full can of beans, in my mind, it's like this Porsche when Matt canes it. Full electric powered instant torque, turbo spooling up, no lag, electric let's off, engines at peak, turbo pops, electric boosts through a gear change for no loss of power and repeat. Till the police are behind you. Then you're in trouble. Don't ask me how I know.
Also faster than a golf GTi. Don't ask me how I know.

This is the car Jayemm On Cars featured a couple of days ago. Sounds like Porsche are really struggling to sell and they are desperately ringing round trying their hardest to get rid! He said it was a really, really good car but not the super limited rarity that Porsche make out and therefore prices are far, far too high (sounds like even shady speculators aren't buying them up) At least I believe that was the general idea?

The 918 was always my favourite of the holy trinity. It always looked the best and it also was the most versatile car of the 3. Yeah sure when you're pushing the cars to their absolute limit then maybe the La Ferrari or the P1 is slightly better, but under 99% of normal driving conditions the 918 is far superior, and can still keep up with the La Ferrari and P1 even in that 1% case when you're pushing it to the limit.

918 by today standards can really compete with a big bunch of Supercars, like the 765LT, 296GTB, or even be quicker than the Mild-hybrid 2022 Lamborghini Countach. Even its design Still feels actual. Hence its going to be a thought job for Porsche to create the succesor of such a masterpiece of car. But of course Porsche can do it.

Since it's launch, it's always been and will likely always be my favourite hyper car. Timeless design and a perfect blend of modern technology and outrageous race-derived V8. Perfection.

kinda bummed that he's saying cold tires when testing the 0-60 time at the end BUT he doesn't stomp on the brakes after each launch to hopefully get some more heat in those tires.

Matt, the holy ghost is all three which is known as the Trinity, father, son holy ghost. Holy ghost is the faith in believing in both the father and the son, nice car by the way.

Be careful speakin on The Holy Ghost. Believer or not, blasphemy against The Holy Ghost is an unforgivable sin, in this world, and the after world, Christ's words.

Theres one or two of these that drive around West Hollywood pretty frequently and I think i just about caused car accidents whenever I saw them while out driving

It's so hard to believe this design came out a decade ago already. If anyone not interested in cars saw it on the street now they'd think it's a new supercar.
reply

Can't believe it's 9 years old already, still looks relevant today, including the P1 and the Laf. You know the saying, they don't make them like they used too.

This awesome car deserve to have 1000+hp engine.
I am very very curious to know, why Porsche do not jump in to the world of quad horse power cars?

reply

The real reason Porsche made this N/A and not have turbos was because they knew Ferrari would have a fit if they got beat. Damn I love Porsche
reply

This car is the definition of timeless, it came out 10 years ago but it looks like it Porsche could ve done a press release for it today
