For me, a large part of the excitement of driving fast cars is the sound of the engine. I've got the new M135i xdrive, which now has the 2ltr 4 cyl rather than the 3ltr 6 cyl engine in older M135/M140 models. The new M135i puts out about 35bhp less than the older 6cyl engine, but the xdrive makes up for that with grip. Where it loses its edge is the engine noise and exhaust noise, due to OPF and noise ratings. First thing i did was swap out the exhaust for a remus sport OPF back, then added an uprated air filter so you can hear thye turbo spool up better. The sound is now what i wanted and i enjoy the car much more than i would a stock version

You have to start to wonder if electric is all that much more clean in the end. Dragging around an extra 800-1000 lbs in weight requires that much more energy to move compared to a conventional car plus the toxic nature of the batteries themselves and electricity still has to be generated from burning something. I suspect in the end it's a wash and we give up the drama of the V8 and reduced handling throwing around a lot more weight in the corners. Not to mention the added complexity, cost to buy and what could be suffocating cost if the battery were to fail out of warranty - and what about resale once the battery has some age on it.

To summarise: it s EXTREMELY heavy (over 2. 1 tonnes, extremely over complicated with menus & settings ect, sounds like a basic Honda & doesn t stir emotion, very expensive & wasn t the car AMG wanted to build but instead is the car they felt they had to build and now expect the buyer to want it.
The positives: it s better on fuel & it s fast. But then so are battery cars.
Very clever technology & engineering, but it definitely isn t a drivers car with that weight & complexity. I ll stick with my OG C63 507 thanks.

I really cannot understand why electric cars are so mainstream right now. How do you justify their ecological impact when they weight at least 25% more? You can't bend the law of physics, more weight to accelerate means more power needed to run the thing. These cars consume more power (which btw is still from fossil fuels) and are being called eco? I don't know but I think we should try to make cars weight less not more in order to save the planet.

For 100, 000 these are going to be parking lot markers at the Dealers. LOL If they would have put this powerplant into the CLA 45S and the GLA 45 this would have been a winner. I really doubt any that has ever had a W204 C63 or a W205 C63 will be willing to spend 100, 000 on a four pot with lots of batteries. If Mercedes would have but the W205 C63 in this with the batteries it would sell for sure. They messed up big time.

Almost 400kg heavier. 4 cylinders less and a ton of weight in the back and less space. Not to mention no extra boot space where it would normally be. Besides the newer technology and it being more economical wich wont matter for the driver who can probably afford to pay for all of it anyway. This car is interesting, but not to any car enthusiast. Maybe to show off. Idk maybe im wrong

This is useless. The only valuable outcome would be how fast it is when the battery runs out, because it is the only dynamics you will get once the battery energy runs out. And it will happen sooner or later, track, Autobahn. Everyhing else is just temporary. This is one tricky pony. Oh wait, one trick hippo, pony is not two tonne animal at least.

They ruined it when they got rid of the 6. 2l naturally aspirated engine. Now they've ruined the ruined version. Just awful. I'm a Harley guy, I rather have the experience rather than the fastest bike on the road and the same goes for cars. I'd rather have a W204 C63 than anything that came after, especially this monstrosity.

I have been always a massive fan of the C63 and AMG, but this new car kind of brought tears in my eyes and made me ask the totally pointless question: WHY!
I understand the regulations and all of the other things, appreciate the engineering in the car, but still I agree with Mat, this is what they had to build.

I wasn't a Mercedes fan until I drove the V8 C63s and AMG GTs flat out around track and drifted them.
I drove the CLA45 straight after and it felt underwhelming (I know it's less powerful. The cabin looked nicer but felt cheaper.
Not saying the new C63s is bad as I haven't driven it.
Just my 2 cents.

There's a comes a point where added performance doesn't cover the loss in character a car has and its enjoyability through its natural symphony. It's good we're taking actions to save the environment, but the noise regulation laws are absurd given that these cars make up a tiny proportion in common roads.

Sorry Mercedes Benz, this feels like you aren t taking your customers as fools, might as well just go buy a CLA45. Do you forget that AMG s platform and appeal is that V8, why not go for a smaller capacity high reving hybrid engine to deliver more HP to accomodate the ongoing trend of hybrid technology.

Please, please, please stop doing things with the people from Mercedes, i know they're just trying to do their job and you guys want to upload a vid about their cars as soon as possible, but they clearly don't really care and it's just a bit aggravating watching you have to deal with their shenanigans

Funny part is, MightyCarMods built a GOLF R MKVII 3 years ago with bolt on REVO parts and they were making 11. 2-11. 3 quarter miles. So, all this high price with all this tech, just to have the same quarter time, as a GOLF from 4-5 years ago with some bolt on mods.

Man I hate those modern sportcars that require a Master s degree in rocket science just to turn the engine up. They completely spoil the connection between the driver and the car. I d rather drive a 180CV Miata than this 500+CV heavy and cumbersome hybrid AMG
