Something about these older gen merc s just make them so damn desirable. Only the few people with real money had these back in the day. A lot more people have lots of money now and the new cars they buy with this new money which we see all the time aren t quite as appealing as the older ones used to be.

I love when Yianni comes on. It seems like you have a bit more fun. But I'll be honest, for design the new one has my vote. I never like the headlights of the old one and I generally don't like convertibles anyway. I think too much of the body is lost to still look good

Have to say, Matt and carwow really do pump out quality car videos. The car selection for the drag race format has been unbelievably on point in recent months, clearly some thought gone into it. I also adored the Dyno video the other day. Thanks for everything!

The least talked about progression in cars is the automatic transmission. They have improved so much in the last 20 years, it's unreal. That's why an older automatic will almost always lose to a newer automatic, even with more power.

The old one was quite a big car already. Now seeing the thumbnail with an even bigger new SL next to it I don't even know what to say. Did people grow 20% bigger within the last 20 years or why is that! I doubt it!

I find it hilarious that a LOT of commenters are saying that the old one is beautiful with a timeless design. I very clearly remember how it was nearly universally derided and called ugly when it came out. Hahaha

The old SL55 is much better looking car. Mercedes got it right 20 years ago. The rear of the new one needs the same profile as the old one to give it that wedge shape aggressive stance.

On second roll race, just pick a speed and let the gear to be in be dictated by what is best for each car! Quit dictating 3rd gear for all cars, it doesn't make sense.

For a difference of 136 hp that old merc should of murdered the new one even with the antiquated gearbox.
So it doesen't have a 625 tune maybe 530-550. max.
