We're going back to 2010 for our latest drag race, with the E92 M3 GTS going up against the RS4 B7! The BMW-s packing a 4. 4-litre V8 with 450hp, while the Audi has a 4. 2-litre V8 with 420hp. The specs may be close, but will it be the same story when they hit the track?

The thing which pisses me off most about these Carwow videos is the rolling drag races locked in 3rd gear at 50mph. The problem is that now all the cars have the same number of gears and in this particular case the RS4 has 6 gears to the M3-s 7. It looks like 3rd in the M3 is about halfway between 2nd and 3rd gear in the RS4 so it-s an unfair comparison. Ultimately the GTS is going to be faster as it has more power and is lighter, but it-s still an unfair comparison and all Matt ever babbles about is the powertrain losses of 4wd vs RWD but in reality the mismatch of the ratios makes a far bigger difference. A fair test would have been to use a manual 6 gear version the E92 saloon.

Both cars are superb, however the M3 is worth 200k and the RS4 is worth 30 / maybe 50k max - not really a fair comparison. The RS4 looks absolutely Savage as an Avant - the E92 M3 is my favourite M3 and if I had 25k I'd buy one as a daily tomorrow. I know that M3 is a track car - but if I had 200k for a track car I'd rather spend my money on something else.

Why wouldnt they make the comparison a fair one by using a norma m3 and not this juiced up, race car for the streets m3? If they were going to use this m3 GTS or whatever it is than they should have been using an RS4 that is some sort of tuned rally car edition as well. BMW has to cheat to beat BMW in almost all aspects of what makes a car good

I would've redone that launch. For obvious reasons on the BMW side, but the RS4 launched rather carefully and not as brutally as it could have. If the driver or owner of the Audi was scared of breaking something though, I can of course understand that. I'm just saying that both cars left some unused potential there.

Both are fantastic cars in their own way but I-d have the Audi all day long. You just couldn-t use the M3-s potential on the public road safely, it needs to be on a track. Where the Audi is perfect for the public road. Probably why I own and drive an Audi A4 Quattro which I-ve had remapped, it-s rather impressive. -

OK when the steering wheel is on the right side of the car, you change gears with your left hand, but the pedals are set the same as in vehicles in the rest of the world, or? I mean, the accelerator pedal is under the right foot and the clutch is under the left, right? Thx?

It was a bit of an unfair test considering the M3 was a competition and a lot lighter they should have used a normal M3 would have been much fairer race

Strange comparison. RS4 is an everyday road car. GTS is a limited line race specific car. RS4 all day for being an actual usable car

Yeeesss. Way better than the shit they make today called -performance cars-. I'll take my RS4 B7 anyday, but both of these are awesome
