Matt, funny about the roof for the video, but please learn how to do it before showing the people; this is so uninformative. it takes up to a minute and a half without all the parodia. I have a 992 GT3, too, and yes, the sound on the 4RS/Spyder RS is far better from the inside; the GT3 has better exhaust sound and steering. Btw this is not a daily car; you have a Boxster GTS as an actual daily; this is a particular occasion car; the people that buy this car have another vehicle in the garage, like me. Thks!

Of course it’s too bloody complicated, Young Watson!
How much does the service department charge a hapless owner just to plug it into the Machine That Goes Ping
All cars only need four dials, four on the floor & four cylinders, each of about 400cc.
All today’s cars are too costly, too complicated & you can’t drive them to their full potential.
They do everything exceedingly well, but they don’t give you the joy of a GT Cortina.

Just a polite comment to CarWow: you keep mixing up 0-60 and 0-62 times for your car reviews. Porsche (and many other manufacturers) quote a 0-62 time, which you then quote in these videos as being the time from 0-60. There can be a big difference in these two times. In this video, for example, you quote 0-60 as 3. 4 secs, but that is the 0-62 time. This explains why you often beat the manufacturer's quoted time - although not in this case!

Thanks for this video, always a pleasure to see you review cars. I love mechanics, I love nice looking cars even if I don't have the means to buy one, I can rent one from time to time but, in modern days 3. 62s (or close to this number) can be achieved with a cheaper EV, that's evolution, you lose the soul, the sound, the smell, the mechanical part, but EV's made sports car available to the masses and it's not as bad as it sounds.

Ball joint suspension is just that, no bolt on the pivot point.
Users a ball on end of suspension arm, my question is how did make female part clip over it
I used to rc cars and most rc cars used them, they do wear after a few months when racing hard.
How long will they last on full sized car is a good question.
How hard to replace each part
I think the female part might wear badly from memory.

It is not as cool as aspected. I sold mine in December and was lucky to get a bit more than I paid. Now the prices are dropping. It’s a nice engine, okayish looking but the overall concept isn’t good. The top is horrible, it’s just annoyingly load when driving with open roof and it’s just difficult to enjoy the drive. I bought a 993 RS instead and simply love the car. That’s the real Porsche deal

Possibly one of the best sounding Porsches from the drivers seatmaybe not on the passing. But what a car pity you’d have to jump through not only hoops but hoops on fire. How many Taycans do you need to buy to be able to order one Porsche have made a huge mistake doing this preferred customers thing. Comes across as a brand so up themselves they are damaging the reputation.

A few points regarding this car. The roof is so easy to use if your not purposely trying to be a tit about it.
The car is a spyder not a convertible, designed for roof down motoring, think of the roof supplied as a bonus.
And only the lucky few will be able to buy one anyway, so if you prefer a mazda MX5 you'll have no worries.

Boxter S opening the roof: 11 s, Spyder RS: 13min - just sayin. does the roof have any use Yes - to protect against dust over the winter in the garage - otherwise it's useless, I would keep it open anyway at all times. Totally agree with Matts verdict! If you can - buy it! I miss my Boxter S every weekend

I’d take this over the GT4 RS any day. I love the 4RS, so much so I’d probably take it over a GT3 from the sound from that carbon airbox alone. However, I’m a convertible guy. This combines the beautiful engine and carbon airbox sound from the GT4 RS but with so roof. It’s pretty close to perfect

And that's why you use the engine you have and let the other car behind you, DON'T get stuck at 30 and move on with your life. Some people are afraid of overtaking, and I don't know why some want to drive slow, make others mad and just don't give space.

Thats insane paying that much for a sports car and having to manually do the roof thats way too complicated.
A 2006 chrysler sebring convertable does it automatically in 10 seconds. Dont know why Porsche cheaped out big time there.

I love the caymans and I wish porsche put even more resources into them. It's a small, light pocket rocket of a midship. I'm so glad they put a full on 911 engine into it and I'm especially glad they didn't stop at the gt4rs.

Amazing review as always!
But the 718 Spyder RS is not based on the Boxster at all, the chassis is more like a mixture of the old GT4 and the GT4RS. Little to no Boxster bits underneath, same goes for the interior

Great car, roof a total faff. but do you Joe Achilles and Harry all use the same road/ corner of the Cotswolds Must be more than one good road. Great Great car, but not a daily. Roof would simply always be off.

so if you want to take the roof down you need 3 people. how many to put it up. no idea. and that's 2 seats car. well if you are rich I guess you need a reason to complain how hard life is.

The roof mechanism look a lot different compared to the standard spyder
I've tried the standard 718 Spyder roof and it's much simpler probably because of the redesign of the intake system

When you take it back to Reading Matt. Please have a word with them, i need a courtesy car in a couple of weeks which, they say they don't have. It doesn't have to be a RS car!

17: 32 Are you limited to just listing 5 annoying things If so, remove the condensation that occurs in the tail lights from the list and replace it with the manual retractable roof.

OMG! The type of people that buy Porsches are not calm and temperate. How many of these tops took a ride after an owner lost their temper and launched it into the woods
