We’ve got Mat in the incredible Porsche 918 Spyder, and it’s facing off against the almighty Ferrari SF90! These two cars need no introduction, but let’s check out the stats anyway! Starting with the Porsche, it’s powered by a 4. 6-litre naturally-aspirated V8 coupled with two electric motors. Combined, they can produce 887hp and 1, 280Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox, and the car tips the scales at 1, 374kg. It also rolls up with a hefty price tag of a cool 1, 300, 000. Then we have the SF90. It comes equipped with a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 coupled with three electric motors - two at the front and one at the back. Combined, they produce an eye-watering 1, 000hp and 800Nm, pushing this power through all four wheels. It’s a bit heavier than the Porsche, though, at 1, 570kg. It’s also a whole lot cheaper, costing around 376, 000. I can't say that I'm enjoying the recent addition on monster Carwow ads in the middle of the videos.
We all know who Carwow are, we all know what you do, where to find you and I don't think the ads are wanted by the audience. We all greatly appreciated the entertaining content you provide, and because of that, we'd use and recommend Carwow to buy and sell cars. Don't tarnish your otherwise excellent videos with needless advertising.

2 legends, finally they are really compared! They have roughly the same philosophy: 4-wheel drive, hybrid engine, hypercar.
Ok, there's a 6 year design gap between the two. The SF90 has more hp, but the 918 has 30% more torque. That normally plays in rolling race, right And the 918 was the pinnacle of what Porsche could release in 2013, this is not the case for the SF90 in 2019. When will the real replacement for the Laf be And for the 918

918 is a wonderful car but a limited run halo machine with a list price more than twice what the Ferrari is today, and that was 10 years ago. Cars get faster I guess. I think the Porsche will probably be more of a classic going forward and better regarded the older it gets, like the Carrera GT. Which I would take over either of these.
reply

I'm clearly not the only one who would walk straight past that Ferrari to the 918.
The SF90 is great, but I can't imagine it's a nice to drive and it's not as pretty - actually I don't like the 296 styling much either, they're not ugly but I wouldn't say Ferrari's trajectory in styling terms is an encouraging one.

Crazy to think how that 918 was eons ahead of anything else at the time performance wise (bar the LaFerrari and P1) and now top end supercars are on par with if not slightly ahead of it. A decade old car getting anywhere close to the performance of that SF90 is still incredibly impressive though.
reply

Holy trinity of 2010’s age like fine wine
La ferrari looks better or as good as new ferrari models
Porsche 918 spyder design is impressive, when it was launched it was way ahead of time
And P1 was one of the best looking mclarens and it looks new as if it was released 2-3 years ago

hey Matt, why havent i seen Yani anymore in the drag races! He is way more exciting fun and enjoyable to watch. Sam is a bit boring as a person. No charisma comparing to Yani. Put him back in your drag races PLEASE! For all viewers, like this comment if you agree with me to draw Matts attention.

Why do professional’ journalists continue to fall for Ferrari’s dry weights because that’s all Ferrari disclose for their chubby cars scared to compare them with McLarenthe actual kerb weight is 1704 kg not 1570
reply

OK why is nobody talking about how good that v8 from 918 sounded
And considering it was released in 2013 which makes it 11 years old, its absolutely incredible even now for how good it performs

reply

You can tell the difference a few years of advancements make.
The near instant gear changes of the SF90 vs the slightly lazy (by high performance standards) shifting of the 918.

reply

For such an early hybrid iteration, the Porsche is just masterful. 113hp less and at least half a decade between them, and still, the Porsche is right on the Ferrari's tail
reply

Anyone who bought a 918 or la Ferrari will be as sick as a dog
Paying over a million for a car then within a couple of years your basic supercar eats them alive

reply

In my humble opinion, the Ferrari wins only on looks. It looks soooooo good. But I'm not based on looks, I would take the Porsche. Just look at those huge rear tires
reply

With Sam on this one, that livery on the 918 looks dated and a bit tacky
If still take the Porsche over the Ferrari as it’s a better looking car imo

reply

i mean, the technology version is already different. the 918 is the rival for LaFerrari, but that's okay tho, still enjoy seeing the rarri winning. hehe
reply

honestly, this just shows how incredibly fast the Porsche was for it's time because we all know how well the SF90 does against todays super/hypercars
reply

Do the 296 vs 918 to rub n the salt. but no one is debating what the better car is here. it's the 918. it'll always be one of the holy trinity.
reply

The 918 looks great, the Ferrari is just an awkward mess, the design, the colours and the directional wheels, what happen to style Ferrari
reply

SF-90 is a joke compared to LaFerrari / 918 / P1. Everyone is going backwards with character in cars and taste. Except Koenigsegg maybe.
reply

5: 37. It's crazy how one car can actually make the other appear slow, and we KNOW that's not the case! That's CRAZY!
