Want to hear your engine better and maybe make a few extra ponies in the process? Well, and intake might be just what the doctor ordered. Let that sucker breathe! Come along as Zach talks about the different types of intakes you may come across as well as some pros and cons - all while installing a new high performance intake on the Miata

yes they are worth it if the filter is quality. and the routing is to a spot where it can breath cold air. simple. yes an airbox will always work better as they are able to force air into a box to then be breathed in by a filter to the intake. as opposed to just sucking ambient air going by the filter without a box to force and direct air to the filter. if you can, the smart thing to do is to modify your airbox to fit an aftermarket filter, or create your own air box with ducting going to it from the front bumper.

I'm thinking about installing an Injen SP3085P air filter in my 2012 Audi A6 3. 0T (because I want to hear more of the supercharger whine, but a neighbor recommended avoiding oiled cold air filters as the oil can get in your engine and cause issues. Is this worth worrying about? Also, would a cold air filter (in stock filter housing) have any longterm effects on reliability? From what I know the 3. 0T Audi motors are apparently really solid and reliable but I don't know if an air filter could undo that.

Most of yall are dumber than rocks 90% of the time an intake will increase power most factory airboxes are SOO restrictive all those resonators and baffles alk they do is slow down flow u want as much air in and as much air out ive done several intakes and all have produced noticeable increases in horsepower and tq now some cars factory airboxes are perfect the 18 GT all u need is a k&n panel and ur done but my 14 GT got more power out of the intake as well as my friends 6. 1 hemi and his girls 5. 7

when it comes to intakes you don't want to suck in under hood air. My former neighbor had a 2018 charger 392 and according to him the factory air box had lower intake temps than some high performance intake that he had installed for a few days. I actually lost the stock ram air looking snorkel for the air box in my 2002 Nissan Maxima and whenever I sit in traffic for a while power drops a whole lot from the heat soak.

I cut the outer most lip off of my tacoma intake and made my own tunnel ram out of a 4 rubber plumbing boot. It sounds much better, and makes a bit more power. It cost 14. I left the upper portion of it on because the air sensor is mounted there. I could replace it with more black pvc drain pipe but its good how it is, and without a chip its probably not a good idea. I don't want it to inhale water either.

I tested a JLT intake on my 2015 Mustang GT at the track and it made my car go from a 12. 9 110mph to a 12. 8 111mph. But after the first run, it started heat soaking and I was running a 13. 1 107mph after the first pass. Only reason why I feel it did something is because I drive to the drag strip with my stock intake and swapped it once I did 3 test passes.

Cold air intakes are a scam. You're not actually getting more power, just more ricey sucky noises. Miatas have the most scientific people modifying them and you can find dyno comparisons between different types of filters, which show that the stock box is definitely the best. Power levels don't change, but filtration levels do.

Before I even watch this, I'm just gonna say. if it's still in the engine bay sucking up the hot air, then no, it's not worth it. If it is a true cold air intake on the other hand that is taking in cooler air from the outside, then it IS worth it. Okay imma watching the vid now

Usually last a lot longer, because you can clean them. Yes but that requires that you clean them, with paper filters you just toss them in the bin and grab a new one. Cleaning can be quiet the process with some of these filters.

It's only worth it if you can recal your ECU. Engines are calibrated for certain intake mass and temperature. By the way, F you on behalf of all people working nightshift that you've woken up with your needless revving.
