Counting down the top 10 best movie car chase scenes from the 1980's. Danny B.: I just looked up the release date of my favorite car chase and as I was watching I seriously hoped it would make the list, but it was 1990. The movie is Short Time with Dabney Coleman. The scene may not have the volume of cars that the Blues Brothers has, but the sheer brutality and humor in context is fantastic and still may be worthy of this list (if they'd only released it just a few months earlier.

This list is pretty and I definitely agree with the mad max chase. Another fact is not one single still camera was used in that chase. Every shot was filmed by a camera mounted to one of the vehicles in the chase or to outside chase vehicles. To the best of my knowledge it's the only scene ever shot like so.

For the eighties there were few accidents in Mad Max. I believe a broken leg when a stuntman drove a moto into a paddock and fell. And an ashtray caused injury in the caravan drive through at the start. They had no authority to do any stunts and used back roads in Victoria Australia. How cool.

No man's land 1987 as had great stunt drivers on that film, driving 911 turbo of those days was dificult enough. Making a great driving chase, like they did in those days was great. Enjoyed the chase scenes from basic instincts with Lotus Esprit turbo, but that film is from 92.

The road warrior definitely belongs at number one. I still have it on dvd and watch it often but how did Christine not make it on the list? The John Travolta wannabe running down the street with the car on fire and the earie music playing.

Its not as good but possibly The Wraith from 1986. Anyone of the races could do involving the M4S Turbo Interceptor since seeing that thing run on the road is just so cool. Also explosions with a car that can Regenerate itself

Speed zone? The opening with the the cops chasing a Lamborghini Countach the is eventually skipped across a pond like a flat stone. And speaking of cops chasing a Countach. the opening of both cannonball 1 and 2

Jalopy WOW This is a 440 with a 727 and I bet a Dana 44. But you wouldn't know that since this is just a jalopy to you, we forgive You. Weird how the best chase scenes from the 80's featured cars from the 50-60-70's.

If you guys do a 90s Version of this black dog has to be in it A bunch of semi trucks smashing into each other down the highwayPatrick Swayze and Randy Travis and meatloaf what else could be better

Maybe No man's land with a Porsche chase seen with Charlie Sheen starring in it. Which also has a truck (a Pepsi truck) in the scene but wasn't doing any chasing, just happens to be caught in the chase.
