The Mercedes-Benz 500E was the original Porsche sedan. Today I'm reviewing a 500E to explain what I mean, and to show you around a classic Mercedes in excellent condition. I'm also driving the 500E to show you what it's like on the road. venom5809: The 500E is still one of the greatest cars I have ever experienced. My father had one, his partner in the office had one (still has it) and an NBA player in town had one too, all three were the two tone gray. My uncle also had a 400E which was cool too. I still remember one day we took out a Corvette in the 500E, good times.

I really wish somebody would hit up Mercedes about the details of this collaboration. There is a lot of wrong but also a lot of contradictive information on this out there. I hear everything from Porsche just assembled them cause Mercedes wanted to help them out to IT'S A PORSCHE. The latter being obviously wrong.

Actually, there was also the 400E, with the 4. 2 V8 (and 270hp) from the S400 W140 (edit: or 400SE/SEL, as it was initially called in the W140 generation) and it came up at roughly the same time as the 500E, but it didn't have flared fenders because the 4. 2 V8 was obviously a bit smaller in size

They didn't 'discover' that the car was too wide to manufacture at Mercedes' assembly line, it was Porsche's plan all along They 'intentionally' made it wider You'll be surprised what companies do to stay afloat. It's a mad, desperate world out there lads.

Glad you got around to reviewing one of these That 2. 3-16 video had me craving more classic Mercedes (and especially classic Mercedes performance models) of this era. That SL500 Silver Arrow video also helped to quench that thirst.

We had one in our garage sitting there for 10 years. I wanted it to be my first car, so we took it out, cleaned it etc. After 2 weeks it got stolen. Edit: it wasn't registered so we also had no insurance

After this video posted Ill bet this car is no longer for sale. These are in high demand by collectors and are hard to find in good condition. I wouldnt be surprised if this is already sold now.

Poor man is still just obsessed, like a child, with 'speed', whether useful or not. I come here because no one else on YT is doing this level of review and just ignore the adolescent talk.
