UNPOPULAR OPINION: As a dealer that does no-credit, high risk rent-to-own financing, and who has sold at least 50 PT Cruisers in all forms and trim levels in the past 10+ years, I can say with absolute certainty that Chrysler's PT Cruiser is one of the most durable little bastards on the road. The only problems that these cars have as far as reliability goes is the IDIOTS that buy them and think it's cool to put 20, 000 miles on the same oil and burn them up, AND the unreliable cooling fans which are cheap to replace. They fail and cause the car to overheat if you don't know how to watch your temperature and respond to the loud chime and flashing lights the car gives you as warning. As destructive as people can be with no-credit financing in general, these cars ALWAYS persevere. The transmissions are INDESTRUCTIBLE, and all parts for the car are cheap and easy to replace unless you have a crybaby mechanic. I can give you plenty of cars that are way worse than this car: 2008 & up Nissan Altima, Versa, Maxima, Rogue, Murano & most Sentras due to Nissan's JUNK CVT Transmission which is guaranteed to fail; every Ford Focus & Fiesta; Every GMC Terrain, Chevy Equinox and their Pontiac and Saturn equivalencies due to their JUNK oil-burning Ecotec four-cylinder that makes a ton of timing tensioner noise, and are hopefully soon-to-be recalled for their defective piston assemblies; every 2008 & up Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave, GMC Terrain, Saturn Outlook & even this era's Camaro & CTS due to their timing issue-riddled, disposable 3. 6L engines; every Northstar Cadillac (no dispute); and last but not least, the PT Cruiser's direct competitor, the Chevrolet HHR, which was worse than the PT in every way except overall cosmetic design. It was even more cheaply put together and Epstein didn't kill himself.

Ayo Doug, 2 things you got wrong. The key you have is discolored from age or wear. And those old Chrysler radios have 10 presets not 5, just press the same button a 2nd time for a different station. Sidenote: I'll correct you on 1 point. Nobody thought PT Cruisers were ugly when they hit the streets in early-2000. They were in music videos, on game shows, car magazines/publications loved them, companies made stretch limos out of them, these were 1 of the coolest cars of the new millennium in almost every state in the country. PT's got a bad rep pretty quick mostly because of quality control problems (like you said) and because grandma's started buying them (like you said) once they started getting cheap and ubiquitous closer to the mid-2000's, then they weren't special or cool anymore.

I think this is still kinda cool, it doesn't look like a clone of everything else like other cars almost all do. A neighbor guy has one that cracks me up though, it's champagne metallic or gold as some would call it, with matching rims and it's a cabrio with matching beige top. It also must be the most optioned PT cruiser ever made or he's had some work done on it because the interior has bling to it. He also keeps it flawless and only takes it out in summer when the weather is perfect.

I think this is still kinda cool, it doesn't look like a clone of everything else like other cars almost all do. Back in '01-'03, this was the car you wanted if you needed an entry level new vehicle. It was a legitimate alternative to a Corolla that, at the time, had some style and didn't make the owner look like a complete poor. The reality was, everything from Chrysler back then was total trash. Like cars like the Fiero, the retro Thunderbird, the Lexus SC, if they were updated properly, then their legacies wouldn't be such a joke.

You talked about things you have no clue were like the hooks on the rear pillars which are cargo tie downs, you say only a few people like them still well to educate you a lil there is a whole fan base of the PT Cruiser just go on FB and look up PT Cruiser pages and events.

There's a REALLY nice black one for sale in Los Banos, CA. wherever that is. that the seller ACTUALLY TOOK THE TIME to do some REAL PHOTOS of Real, HDR photos, with a real camera, a flash and some post processing. for a PT CruiserBring an automotive photographer, I always get a kick out of some of the photos people include in ads. I've seen LAMBOS with FAR worse photos than this

Having owned a PT cruiser, I can confirm it is a huge piece of crap. EVERYTHING can break, and likely will break or wear out, MUCH sooner than you might expect. The styling fails badly too. Too bad, because if they'd done things like make separate fenders, circular or oval head and tail lights, maybe there'd be a hot rod appeal to it.

I think it doesn't look that bad. I mean nor does look good, but I think these retro styled cars looked mostly fine. I'm rather fed up by most modern cars having an angry look with a heavily overdesigned style full of angles and lines plus maybe they're even an SUV. I'd rather live with the simplicity of 90s&2000s car styling.

Count me as one of the few I had one a little older, N/A engine but with the stick of shifting and around 140k miles on it, It was kind of a great car. Drove it from Long Island NY to North Jersey to get to work for 2 years. I liked the ugliness I guess bc it was ugly but had great utility and did very well if it snowed.

0-60 in 6. 5 seconds and only 3/10? How does your scale work? You say it's accelerating decently fast and only 3 poins yet you say it's loud inside and you give it 5/10 for comfort. I don't get you score logic: )My crappy old Toyota Corolla does 0-60 in like 11-12 seconds. So what would that be? -5 points: D
