One comment about the volume control buttons on the steering wheel. While a vertical vertical rocker switch might be more standard in modern cars, the three button horizontal arrangement (volume down, up, mute) is pretty much how the do it on computer multimedia keyboards. Most multimedia keyboards also include a fourth button to the right of the volume buttons (play/pause. It was also true and maybe still is that a lot of home stereo systems that didnt use volume knobs, used horizontal up/down volume buttons. While it might take some getting used to use a horizontal volume button arrangement on the steering wheel in your car vs the more common vertical rocker switch setup, I doubt it would be that difficult to adapt.

It's so frustrating because this is basically a VERY slightly larger Focus. That's why it's so good - because it's basically a Focus +50mm in every dimension (except wheelbase. But as long as you call it a compact SUV people will buy it in droves, rather than a hatchback which US folks all hate so much that Ford stopped making them (for the US. This is why we can't have good things - because people don't know good things when they have them, and demand bad things.

I was in in for about 4 weeks. Love all the quirks and features of it. All led. Touch screen infotainment. Digital instrument cluster. Assisted autopilot driving. It's fast with 0-60 in 6. 6 with the ecoboost upgrade. Awd. Great offorad capability. Note this was all on top trim level. Great vehicle for 37k. Just worried about reliability

Why do I need an iPad stuck in my view (Chevy got this wrong and now Ford follows? Runy eggs for headlights and crushed in doors that look like it was in an accident before I buy it. Remember the last hybrid that only came in two wheel drive? Toss the fake heads up display and the other solutions to problems that don't exist.

I have a Fusion and I use the keypad pretty often. Only thing is, it makes it easy to steal the car. Especially with the push button start, thieves take a chance, smash the windows and if your proximity key is inside, the car will start and off they go. Ive heard a lot of fusion owners car being stolen because of this.

An MPG rating like this combined with a nice array of helpful features makes me very sad that Ford isnt making sedans anymore. A simple 4-door with perhaps an even better mileage rating and a slightly lower price would probably outcompete the affordable Japanese sedans that seem to have been handed that market segment

My wife had the last generation Escape and really liked it. When she was car shopping recently, she checked out the new version, but couldnt get past its looks, especially the front of the car. She really wanted an Edge, so she got one, and I have to say it seems like a much nicer car overall, and she loves it.

Regarding the styling I'd say that this is much more suited for the Global market, while the other is definitely directed more at the US customers. While you see tons of those small SUVs here in Europe, it is quite rare to see big-ass rectangular SUVs like the other that instead are probably common in the US

Maybe the new keypads are better. but after my dad locked his keys in his Explorer, I was able to unlock the doors by just slamming keypad buttons after buttons after buttons until I randomly got the right code and the doors opened. Seemed like a bad security flaw for a thief who has plenty of time. :)
