3: 10 IMO, that IS a grotesque rear wing. lol. and while i'm being critical, it seems that starting in 2013 year by year the car becomes less attractive. this version looks like it's been dressed up is some sort of cheap aero kit.
doug's rant WRT weight saving deletions and heavy ultra comfort conveniences is spot on. but then again, did we really think that porche owners lacked pretension?
personally, if i wanted to make an ultra light version, i'd want the normal seats and make them manual and have mechanical latches and window mechanisms, use my smartphone for entertainment/navigation and ditch the gps/screen/infotainment system altogether. and if they installed vent windows i might even forego air-conditioning.
. but i'm not holding my breath until they offer such an animal.

I'm curious. When you're talking about these Top End sports cars you always include modes best for the track. What track? Someone invests over 100k, 200k, 500k, and so on and you actually think they're going to spend time on a track? Think about it. The individuals that can actually buy these cars are mostly in the age range of late 40's plus and all they want to use these cars for is a damn trophy that they never drive. It always blows me away when you talk to these individuals and you ask them how much they drive these cars and they talk about once a month at best. These cars are meant to drive and not sit in someone's trophy case.

It s absolutely the better track car but unfortunately for those who like a Porsche as a daily driver it s not as practical as a 911.
The 911 has the PDK which makes driving around any metropolitan area a must. A 992 can be used on a track but the GT4 is not the car you want as your daily driver from Porsche. Lastly he is absolutely right about the set up as the seats and options are not the most comfortable.
It s the superior track Porsche but it s not the Porsche you want when driving in the real world.

Doug, blank switches are the greatest things ever, especially today when you can 3D print things. The blank switches make great locations to add custom ports/functions for your car. Say you installed air suspension, guess what you can turn on of those blank switches into the button that controls the ride height. Turn one into a USB port. Most common, use it as a switch for the light bar that you install. I wish my car had blanks so that I could easily mount my train horn button somewhere.

Sorry but paying 100k for 400 horsepower is a total ripoff. Chevy was able to do that with the C6 Corvette 15 years ago. To put it in perspective, the new Corvette ZR-1 is roughly the same price, yet it has 355 more horsepower than this, is 1. 3 seconds faster in the 0-60 and is monstrously faster around the track. Oh and it actually has an aggressive V8 exhaust that sounds intimidating, which cannot be replicated with a 6 cyl.

Must agree with you, I have a Cayman 987. 2 S and it's amazing for everything. Both for trips to and from work, playing in small roads and long roadtrips. Last summer we took a three week trip from middle of Sweden to France and Italy crossing the Alps twice with lots of storagespace and at the same time lots of fun in the Alps and on the autobahn.

This is by far the best budget sportscar. Porsche really listens to its consumer base. They ditched the 4 cylinders and got back to 6 cylinders, naturally aspirated, 414hp, manual (with pdk optional. This can't get any better. Its hard not to pick the GT4 over the base 911. A GT4RS with the weissach package in the near future would be insane.

What is your thoughts of the 2020 compared to the 2016 GT4? I own a 2016 GT4 and absolutely love it. My take it the new one is a touch faster, but the old one sounds better, but I have not driven a new one (yet. I personally think the mid-engined Porsches drive better than the 911s. I might get burned at the stake at the next PCA event.

Sorry Doug, but the GT4 doesn't have the perfect horsepower, not for the road or on a track. It's a little underpowered and could use 60-70 more HP and ft/lbs of torque, esp down low and in the midrange, but it IS certainly the best Cayman/Boxster ever made.

12: 30 The Good to know manual: that's the name of the app they started around 2016, to get one's owner manual in their smartphone. Given how unusable it is (very buggy, works only in a few countries, not sure the branding is a good idea.
