Doug - I think you need to add a safety rating to 'the Doug score'. I'm not a car junkie, but I do like the tech, and I find that BMW and Mercedes have so much to offer in safety that I feel it is unfair to judge them without mentioning safety. The body crash engineering is just the start. A suspension that moves in so many different directions (mechanically) just does so much more to keep your tires on the road, then add air to that suspension and you further increase road contact, then add 4-matic (Mercedes, whatever the BMW equiv, and you increase the traction of your steering. I drive a crappy econo Chevy - but I am poor and single. If I were rich and had a family, I would never put them in my current car. The value, to a family, of keeping the tires on the road, whether breaking, coasting, or steering, coupled with a body design that absorbs impacts from all directions, reinforced by air bags in all directions - totally overwhelms the responsiveness of the infotainment system.

The missing flare of the rear door is something that would really bother me if I owned it. Much more then the weird front grill. They really shouldn't have cheaped out there. It looks terrible, almost like it got hit by something. Or a mistake while they were 3D modeling it.

How come you didn't compare the Doug score to the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio? I think that's one of it's closest competitors.
As an owner of a Quadrifoglio, I think it should have a higher handling score than you have it.

The new BMW gills are absolutely hideous. But this one definitely takes the turd. And what they neglected to mention was that one guy out of five was tripping LSD at the time.
I don't particularly like styling

The faux 2-post side mirror is designed that way for aerodynamics. But not speed aerodynamics, SOUND aerodynamics. Having that shape helps eliminate the annoying buffeting you can get when driving with the windows down.

As much as I love BMW, their design department tries to be too quirky sometimes. Seems like the odd designers from the 2000s BMW motorcycle design department has moved to the car design departments

BMW missed an excellent opportunity imo. G80 is phenomenal (probably best in class. But the kidneys ruin it all for me and many ppl. Here's to hoping the downsize the grills for LCI.

I like you Doug, for an American you talk a refreshing amount of sense, but just no; the E46 is and always will be the best looking M3.
It s a hill I m willing to die on.
