About that spoiler; it's purpose was to direct air down behind the car and decrease the low-pressure zone behind the car. This keeps dust from settling on the rear window and harming visibility. I live in a rural area and almost all vehicles (SUV's, school busses, etc) that have a flat back have a spoiler like this to control gravel dust.

Doug, you're showing your youth. That rear spoiler was a dust deflector. It was intended to be functional to force air down over the rear window so that when you're on dusty dirt roads it would force the dusty air away from your rear window so that you could still see out of it.

Old vehicles and quirky vehicles you get that watch time from me. I cant do another Porsche, Mercedes or BMW video personally. I just start zoning out as information is hardly any different between them.

My dad had a Toyota 4Runner 1998 (3. 5 TurboDiesel Engine) then he sold it and bought another one but it was 2000 model with a 2. 5 Diesel Engine (Both were Manual Transmission. Great Car and Very Reliable

i think only the limited 4runners with the push button 4wd let you put in 4wd at 50 mph. this one is a J shift and its a mechanical shifter and you will grind the gears if you try that.

3rd gen 4runners are already getting difficult and expensive to find. Thanks a lot Doug, now the prices just shot up about 20%. I bet this example easily breaks 25K

Are these vehicles pretty good in the snow? I have always liked these vehicles and was hoping they were as good in the snow as they look like they could be.

Doug, I believe the rear spoiler is there to prevent dirt getting flung back onto the back window due to the aerodynamics of the vehicle.
