The Geo Metro Convertible Was a Hilariously Pathetic 50-Horsepower Economy Car

Geo Metro review! The Geo Metro Convertible is a tiny convertible economy car with no frills and almost no power. Today I'm reviewing the Geo Metro Convertible, and I'll show you all the quirks and features of this little car. I'm also going to show you what it's like to drive the tiny Geo Metro, and I'll review the Geo Metro driving experience. Isaac: I have a nissan pao, which is basically the same car in a lot of ways but with a weird retro look, and i love it. 54 hp, 1500 lbs. An ECU-controlled carb. 12in wheels. But it gets great economy. It is sometimes scary to drive around Atlanta, but if you know how to claim your space and make yourself visible and not worry about trying to race someone for a spot in line, it's not that bad. It is slow, especially up hill, and with a 3-speed auto. downhills are fun, though.

The 93 Metro Convertible had the 1. 3 L 4-cylinder which had 70 HP. The airbag was a big deal for such a cheap car but they had to offer it because they couldn t offer on a convertible (at the time) government-required passive seatbelt system. The convertible also had one inch bigger wheels than the standard Metro. The light bar was not a light bar at all but a plastic insert to replace where the license plate had gone on the earlier models before a mid-cycle update. The swirly rainbow decal was a dealer add-on when it was new, definitely not stock. This was a common practice by car dealerships in the early 90 s.

Ahhhh yes, the Geo Metro, also known as the Chevy Sprint and the Pontiac Firefly in Canada. They could be had with a 3-cylinder TURBO in Canada (not sure about the US) and that would bump up the HP a bit. They sold an incredible amount of them in Canada, and the convertible was a total chick car, very much like the VW Cabrio was. Countless friends of mine got one of those (mostly 2-dr hardtops) to go to college with. I guess it would be comparing it to the VW bug of the old day. The Metro was surprisingly reliable for an inexpensive car, much more so than the Big-Three cars of that era.

I am generally very forgiving of cars, I am such a fan that usually will find something I like. However, I test drove a new one back in the day and that was an experience that left me searching for things to add in the like column. The sun overhead was about it. The body shake when I tried to floor it was the last straw for me so I passed on the car. Now is a different story, this is a cool car from a history stand point and amazing that it looks to be in a such great condition. You tell the owner really took care of it. Fun icon car to own now.

Ah, Doug. Convert your MPGs properly! I almost passed out when on 9: 35 you told us that this bug was doing 23, 5 liter per 100 km. That would be insane, it is S63 AMG or like Escalade in winter numbers.
Of course when I converted what you've said - 49 highway (4. 8 L/100km) on a stick and 39 highway (6 L/100km) with AT - everything clicked. But that was a shocker )

Fun Fact. while Chevy USA had Geo, Canada had it too, but apparently Pontiac wanted a piece of the Action. and so the Asuna brand was created. rebadging the SAME CARS. there was the Asuna SunRunner (side kick) and the Asuna Sunfire (geo storm. BUT BEFORE the cavelier sibling. i don t think the prism or metro fell under the Asuna name though.

According to Jonathan Woss, Batman dwives a Metwo. Then again, it's a Wover Metwo, which probably makes the contemporary Geo seem like a Wolls-Woyce. Maybe you can don the spandex cape and weview one.

So weird. I saw some cute young girl getting into a Geo metro 2-door (non-convertible) earlier today at a grocery store. Never saw this car before in my life but here comes Doug on the same day!
