We don't have many choices when choosing a fuel. You have over 100 car choices in the off road market alone. Why would you pay so much for that car? is a valid question. But, if you do want that car, that's fine and I know you can't control prices. Why would you pay so much for petrol? Well, the other main choices are diesel and electricity. Most cars here use petrol. We can't control prices either. So you can't judge the fact we pay a lot for something most people need to run their vehicle.

Its not checkmate coz you dont need an expensive defender but we do need expensive fuel or else our cheap defenders dont run Its need vs wantAlso your defender is a short wheelbase defender so you were given the option of the large boot (or trunk) or 4 seats but in he long wheelbase version you get a large boot (or trunk) and 4 seats also the range rovers cool features are on most high class modern cars like pretty much any Volvo which are cheaper than the Range Rover and just as nice

It's unfair to compare reliability by listing current issues of a higher mileage, 50 year old vehicle to a relatively low mileage new vehicle. Also, how do you compare two SUVs and not even bring up off road capability. I highly doubt ANY current Range Rover will be running and driving in 50 years, and I also highly doubt anyone in the off road community will want one. Doug is full of crap. Go talk to Scotty Kilmer.

would STILL rather own a defender though, but only if someone were to order me 1 or the other for free as a gift. If i were to spend 70k on a car, i'd buy a used Nissan GT-R or a used Tesla maybe. Yeah, something nice and fancy like that. You know, in Russia we have a saying- Car is not a luxury, it's a means of transportation and thus, i'd rather a car which can rock crawl: D

That Defender wasn't the right choice to compare with Range Rover. you should have compare with a 2013 5-door stationwagon Defender. However the reason they created defender is so much different. this icon is made for heavy duty off-road. Electrical stuff can be pain in the ass in forests, deserts etc.

you can import it it has to be 25 years old under the vintage or ancient exemption so currently you can import one thats 1994 or older youll be able to import the 1997 one in 2022 and to import it the total cost would be 20, 000-25, 000 unless you use air freight then itll be 25, 000-55, 000

I feel bad for Americans having to pay that much for a defender, you can pick up a scruffy old one in the UK for about 5 to 10 grand and a mint, late model one for about 20 to 30, and yep, all the noise is very much part of the defender experience
