The Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 is fine -- but it could be better. Today I'm reviewing the Q50 Red Sport 400 to show you what I mean, and to show you why it could be improved. I'm going to take you on a tour of the Infiniti Q50, and then I'm going to drive it and tell you what the Q50 Red Sport 400 is like on the road

I used to be an Infiniti fan but these days even their naming scheme is nuts. And the interior here is just really ugly to me. Maybe if I just wanna be different and I have all the money in the world then yeah I'll get this but in reality, what the heck. I'd rather get an Altima. And why not? Nissan has, except for around 2003 or so, always been half-hearted about their luxury brand, merely rebadging existing Nissans and putting in some faux wood and leather here and there, as is the case with the QX4 and I30. Their product planning and segmentation is pretty bad, at least in my country, where an Altima or Camry is seen as somewhat luxury cars, yet they used to sell the Altima in a trim level that doesn't even get foglamps and leather for much higher prices than Sylphys (that would be the Sentra there) that come with foglamps and leather. Mazda, Toyota, etc. know what local buyers want and they adjusted accordingly. Not so with Nissan, so the Altima is rarer than hen's teeth here. I don't know but everything they do just seems disconnected. Even their designs feel either copied or just lame. Toyota built their reputation for quality first before they went into luxury cars, Honda built on their reputation for performance and efficiency, Hyundai is now starting to turn heads with beautiful styling and value for money. Infiniti? I dunno. Rebadged Nissans, outdated infotainment, I think.

Doug, you must do some homeworkNissan and Infiniti were the world first company that invented Around View Monitoring, Blind Spot Intervention, Back up collusion Intervention, first ever made VC-Turbo ( variable Compression), first sonar system in car, first ever Intelligent Cruise Control with detection up to 2 vehicles in front, First Voice Recognition in vehicle, First ever Lane Departure Intervention, First Direct Adoptive Steering. I'm not a fan of Infiniti I'm a fan of car industry and cars in generalInfiniti is one of the most respectful brands out there, as most the tech that other brands use and develo today were build and invented by Infiniti The Pro-Pilot Assis is one of the most smoothest driver aids today in the industry You should try it first. The car you reviewed wasn't packaged It was a base Red Sport. As each model in Infiniti can get Sensory, Pro-Assisst and Pro-Active packaging on them The even a Q50 2012 could have all kinds of technology if they would just check the boxesGood to know that Infiniti was the first company that invented world first hydraulic body motion control as well. Infiniti might needs a redesign but it's absolutely not an upgrade vehicle for Impala

Stock? Car is docile, smooth, seems -just fine-Ditched the adaptive suspension for coilovers, no codes, no need for additional resistors to fool the computer, the car just accepts it. Upgraded sway bars and suspension arms for adjustment, wider wheels with a square setup and better tires, car handles amazingly now. Upgraded the intakes, makes all of the cool turbo noises any enthusiast would enjoy. And the exhaust? A cute pea-shooter diameter cluster of pipes that basically beg to be changed out. After installing lower downpipes and a catback (easy as cake install) and pairing with a JB4, the car is a monster off the line, in turns, and will still handle your grocery runs and long road trips in comfort. I think my appeal to this car comes from the seemingly 'sleeper' status. Its a great looking car and the performance has to be coaxed out a bit to bring it to life, but boy is the performance there. Q50 Red Sport 400, docile businessman's daily commuter, but a monster that flies under the radar at the hands of an enthusiast(If only it had a dual clutch trans and LSD > brake vectoring)

You're right, the Lease is a great deal. At 400 a month (which is very low for a red sport, and more in line with the 3. 0t Q50) it's a pretty great deal. However, I think your comparison to a 3 series is a bit off, the three series should be a smaller car. I have driven this body type for almost 7 years and it definitely is more of a 5 series in the interior, which is what I presently drive. The tech was my biggest complaint on shorter trips, and the seating for 2+hour travels was horrendous. Everything felt cheap in this car, the materials are just not it's strong suit. The car had power, However, I was never impressed by its steering. It felt like it had too much variation, especially on the G37 (which is before the name change. This was better on the more recent version (q50) I had, but still present. It's a nice car, but very few Japanese cars can compete with their German rivals in this class. I'd recommend comparing this car to the 530xi if you're leasing. The TLX is probably a nicer car in general but has an underperforming drive train.

Hi, Q50s is not the top of the Infiniti, Q60 red sport s, with red sport leather interior with carbon fiber including many of radar technology in it and lighter than the q50s is more luxury interior and exterior. I hope you see the q60 red sport s and tell me your opinion, every disadvantage points you mentioned about q50s is true, but in q60 red sport s has many technology features not in q50s, such as if you are going Reverse and a car coming in blind spot the car immediately stopped. Another feature if you are busy with your mobile and the signal is red q60 red sport s will stop completely before you hit the car infront of you. Another important feature there is many cameras and sensors can know if the 3rd car infront of you stopped suddenly your car will give you a warranty and will reduce the speed and will stop as well if its required, the engine is much powerful than q50s because the q60 red sport s in two doors and lighter than q50s. Just check the q60 red sport s not q60 s, there is different between q60s and q60 red sport s.

As of the publishing of this video, the Infiniti Q50 offers Apple car play and Android Auto with the updated infotainment system that includes using WiFi to upgrade its software as well as Blindspot Collision Advoidance, Lane Departure Warning, Pro-Pilot Assist (Automated driving, Forward Emergency Automatic Braking, Top down around view cameras, adjustable sport suspension, and adjustable direct adaptive steering to name a few. Infiniti/Nissan was one of the first to offer these safety and technology features. Most performance auto makers will have some form of the Direct Adaptive Steering in the near future because of its over all benefits and will be praised for doing so and forget who offered it first.

Doug, Im sorry but youre wrong. My dad leased one of those two years ago and it is still as much fun as when we got it. The tech doesnt matter, Ive seen my dad touch that stuff like 20 times and that car looks so much better in a metallic grey, which is the spec that my dad has. He was comparing that to the m3 at the time, and sure it was slightly faster but it didnt have a sunroof and was WAY too expensive. And also, that car is a total sleeper, even the dealer told us that. So if youre in the market to buy a super fun daily driver that doesnt need modifications and is reliable, then please, PLEASE consider the infinity q50 red sport 400. Its the best

Hey Doug, I doubt you'll see this, but just a couple of notes: The Q50 indeed does have Adaptive Cruise Control and has had it available since the car was released for model year 2014, but it is an optional package. If that car didn't have it, then the buyer didn't opt for it. The Q50 also went through a refresh. Upon release, there were three engine configurations: a diesel model (EU only, the 3. 7L V6 carried over from the G37, and a Hybrid in the form of a 3. 5L V6 paired with an electric motor. Those were all phased out in favor of the turbo-charged models (though I think the Hybrid is still available in Japan. That's it.

I have the '15 Hybrid S in gunmetal, an anniversary gift from my loving spouse. My girl has every gadget Infiniti could put on that car except 4wd. It is an absolutely GORGEOUS car, and whatever criticisms you may have about that vehicle, it is serious head-turner and exactly why I bought it. It looks good and I look good in it. My son bought a Red Sport not knowing I had purchased the Hybrid. He traded in his Red Sport for a G70 after telling me That is a beautiful car. That should have been the Red Sport. I feel like I've been ripped off. Since I'm retired now, this will probably be my last car. I'm all good with that

Doug, I've been asking you for awhile to do a review in Miami for my 2019 RS 400 with every available option and package. I believe the model you chose was lacking certain features that would improve your point of view on the vehicle. Also the MSRP was 63, 755 and the sale price was over 20% off and it was purchased Nov. 2018. I do agree as you do about the value being a huge convincing argument. If you do take the time to look at the latest model with all the features, please give us an update. But all in all good review and I'll keep watching, no one doubts the interior is dated, the car interior hasn't changed since 2015.
