i have a 5 speed manual. i like to drive it hard. i use 93 octane. i find it gives me more acceleration and a slight increase in power. another positive is if i miss a shift. if i miss a shift i sometimes get close to or redline it. i've found the higher octane fuel gives me a little bit of mistake room. i. e. i run less risk of pre detonation during a missed shift. i understand the majority of drivers don''t need it. but i do. ;)

Non of that evap recovery system works if you live in Phoenix in the summer and its 120 degrees in direct sunlight you will smell gasoline inside your car while driving around town. Cars werent designed well for all driving conditions in the states. The northern states need heated windshield wipers and heated side view mirrors as standard. Key word need. Its very necessary just not done by the DOT which is only marginally effective

I was having trouble putting gas in my 2001 Toyota Echo I bought a month ago then I saw your video on evap charcoal canisters. On my 2001 toyota echo the evap is easy to reach I didn't even have to jack up the car to get to it, and I noticed two hoses were missing clamps. I put the new clamp on them then I was able to put gas in my car with no problem. I never miss any of your video I learn alot.

i keep seeing the john boat leaning up against the fence. is the boat for Mr. Scotty and his wife in case of a once in a 5000 year flood? or is it for all the tools in the garage? does Mr. Scotty like to go fishing? is it to paddle around on lakes and get some sun? just trying to gather data on our favorite car mechanic. ;)

It's a bogus claim that vehicles specified for 86/87 octane might have issues with higher octane (89-93. The higher the octane, the more resistant the gasoline is to premature detonation (pinging. If you want to maximize the life of the engine and the extra cost is not a big deal to you, always run super unleaded.

You can definitely run high octane fuel in a low octane engine. Just not the other way around. High octane is recommended for tuned cars for example so they can run higher boost without knock. A regular engine benefits from slightly higher efficiency with higher octane too.

Got a code for one bad cat after going through a big water hole. I got the catalyst efficiency code 100 miles later. I thought the code was from overfilling oil, but that didn't make sense. Wish I saw this video earlier and had more common sense.

You won't believe how many mechanics will tell you you need new this and new that, when all you needed to do was tighten the gas cap further to the point that you need some grunt to open it. The rubber gasket needs to make an airtight seal.
