I talked to a friend who makes a decent living cruising the freeways here in California, in his late model F150. It is loaded with a few batteries, cables, wire, tools, flat fix, jacks, tires, battery less car jump thingamabobs, wipers, clamps, hoses, coolant, water, oil, snow chains (if hes working what he calls the snow detail, etc, etc. He pulls up behind people stranded and offers his help, for a fee of course. He said on the older cars blown or leaking hoses is one of his most common repairs. Second most common is peoples bald tire(s) failing. P. S. Depending on how the car looks and the driver presents, that determines if he insists on cash, or will swipe your debit/credit card in one of those thingies called Square or something like that attaches to his Verizon phone. Vignette: When I used a friends fathers car to speed down to a San Jose Hospital to see my ailing dad (who passed about an hour after I arrived at the hospital) of all times to get a flat, I did. As I was putting on the spare I saw one of those pickup trucks parked on the side of the road, about 100 yards back. When he saw I had it handled he drove off. :-)

hey i have a car which has been sitting for 16 years in our barn it has accumulated dust and rust and i know it needs a new brake servo as thats why its there no engine still turn and fuel will be pumped out as well as new oil and filters however i am still reluctant to start it as the springs look like there done and i think brake would need changing also the whole exhaust needs replacing should i start it

Gmornin Scotty - This video sure does show a better way to repair a blown radiator hose that the duct tape method l used many years ago when it happened to me- of course, if duct tape is all you have, the trick is to not tighten the radiator cap so that the high pressure wont blow the tape off- Im going to buy one of those kits ASAP - of course winning one here would be better Have a great day

Yes I definitely want one of those kits and have one for all 2 of my vehicles very handy if Im out of town or something and that happens or in middle of no where and have no phone signal or by my self or just something like that and I always carry like radiator fluid and extea oil and a extra serpentine belt and a set of jumper cables ha just in case.

Vaccum hose being broke would leave you stranded. My vaccum hose on my 1997 Pontiac Grand AM broke in my yard in years ago. Went to autozone bought 3ft of hose. Cut off what I needed and put it on. Then someone else squeezed it on even tighter. Instead of being towed and paying 60 or more for the repair

Тhat happened to me twice in my old Renault. Luckily both times was in downtown so first time a mate of mine helped me fix it and then I proceeded to my 180 mile trip with no probs. The next time I was like a mile away from my mechanic so I drove the car there.

I sprung a hose leak once in the middle of nowhere. Some guy came along with some self-fusing silicone tape. Fixed it perfect. I offered to pay him for it but he told me to just pass it on. That was a super easy fix and I now keep a roll of the stuff in each of my rigs.

Hello, Scotty: I remember reading back in the mid 90s-2000s that some coolants and plain water could not be mixed because the special coolants would gel or gum up. Is this still true with some vehicles today or is everything somewhat universal? Thnx: Keith

Scotty, i do buy a ford Taurus 2013, with millage 55, 00 km. and i have Toyota Camry 2008, will the question can i rely on my Taurus for daily drive or keep using my Camry? my Camry need couple hundreds to fix some issues thats why i stopped using it.
