Hes right. The car is awesome but there some drawbacks if you buy it as a primary car and spend too much. I owned a 2000 LS when i was in school. Here are the following repairs I dealt with that were expensive:
Timing chain and tensioners broke under aceleration
Environmental Control Unit broke and caused a short which drained the battery (No AC and never got repaired)
right after i bought it, had minor transmission issue which honestly wasn't that big of deal given the others (luckly I bought a warranty)
Windsheild wipers broke
The transmission was going out when I sold it, which i was definitely aware of. Got 700 dollars for it for a trade on a 2013 Genesis Coupe.
I loved this car, but do not spend too much on these initially or you will definitely regret it.

I wouldn't want to go without A/C living in the Ohio Valley in the summer so I just hate to think what it would be like not having it during a Houston summer.
From what I've heard those Lincolns were really solid cars especially with the V-8. I think they had the same engine and transmission that the Crown Vic/Town Car/F-150 had so those were tried and true. Lincoln just didn't sell that many of them.

Was a dye leak test performed on the AC system? If the leak is located only inside the engine compartment, then the repair bill should be lower than the quoted price. The speedometer could also be repaired, no? Or replaced with a used speedometer from a junk yard.
I'm assuming that the Lincoln LS, Mercury Grand Marquis & Ford Crown Vic use much of the same interchangeable parts for a given model year.

I remember my sister bought a late 80's Camry in the early 90's dirt cheap. repaired frame. It ran perfect. so smooth, soft ride. I wonder why I don't still see them on the road. sure they looked like shoeboxes on wheels. all else about them was great. Again, if you bought one new then. you could say 40 years later its everyday and runs fine. Good deal.

I did a double take when he said Lincoln LS. Of all the videos Scotty has made, I disagree with this one the MOST. My brother and his partner had LS's and those cars were the epitome of absolute garbage. Suspension problems, electronic problems, and transmission problems. Forgot about 500 bucks, I wouldn't take one of those for free. Stay Away.

Why do half of your old beater cars always seem to have a big CRACK in the front windshield? Have some of the previous owners taken out the seat belts to make the cars go faster or increase their gas mileage?
This makes the safety devices in a collision:
# 1. The steering wheel, and # 2. Your face and head. Dumb and Dumber and Dumberer.

Smoking tires. screeched those all season tires a little. Great deal though. I'd fix the AC. maybe upgrade it. Fix the leaks and windshield. See if I could get dealer to fix speedo as a safety item. Great speeding excuse though. my speedo just stopped working recently!
