Stainless steel braided hoses such as Russell Performance Products stainless steel braided brake hoses will improve brake responsiveness because they don't expand under heat and pressure like a stock hose can. If you're gonna replace 'em anyway, might as well pring for the good tuff?

Scotty, out of all the models Ford produces the only one you mentioned having this problem was the Edge and it's Lincoln counterpart the MKS. I find this a bit odd since these two vehicles are basically the same underneath their skin. Could there possibly be something on or in these cars that is causing the brake hoses to go bad instead of just faulty or cheap hoses? Just a thought that might need to be investigated. What say you? GMC should be doing the same thing. My truck we had to completely change all brake lines below the vehicle. Even two of the heavy metal ends rusted away to cause a leak. There needs to be some government standards on these brake lines. I can only imagine how many people have died because of the steel lines bursting after a little rust attacks them. I replaced all the lines with copper nickel lines, but the rubber lines. I just replaced. there is no option on those.

Re the Jetta transmission, My experience is all those double clutch robotised manual (DSG) transmissions are rubbish. They drive badly and break. On the Jetta concerned it was probably like that from new, the good news is it hasn't broken yet. Give me a proper torque converter automatic anytime.

I m 15, turning 16 in September and looking at an imported Toyota ST205 Celica GT-Four cause I want an AWD car for Chicago weather. It s from JDMclassics but I m not sure if I can get it or know all details on what to check for sure. Might go 15, 000 in price. Is it a good idea as a first car?

I've owned nothing but Ford's for 50 years, including a 71 pinto that was struck from behind twice and didn't burst into flames. I have 4 Fords now and totally trust them. 3 of them have over 300, 000 miles each with little repair work required. Have a new F-150 and love it.

I have a 2001 Mercedes Benz ML320 sport package with about 180k miles, still original engine and transmission but the AC compressor was replaced last year, the SUV still runs like a champ though I regularly maintain it i. e changing the fluids and filters.
