I bought a 1994 Jaguar XJ12 with 42, 000 miles for 4, 000 in 2003! It needed paint and a lot of detailing, but it was a sound car. I flew across the country and paid cash, sight unseen, and drove it 2, 500 miles home with no issues. Electrics are by Bosch and Delco, which gives a lot of confidence (They were good back then); and the automatic transmission is a General Motors 4L80E, which is nearly bulletproof and relatively cheap to rebuild should something go terribly wrong.
After some work to make the mechanical stuff pretty underneath (I own a shop, so, the cost was minimal -- I did it myself, I wanted some more GO when I hit the loud pedal. Hence, I installed two 150-horsepower nitrous oxide kits originally meant for V-6 Mustangs.
With some tuning and fiddling, I now have 672 horsepower at the rear wheels and a car which is much more fun to drive.
Until I break something. In the meantime, I'm shopping for a good deal on paint worthy of my Jaguar, and it is possible -- expensive, but possible -- to increase the engine's displacement to over eight liters. (That's about 488 cubic inches for old gearhead like me. What can be done with a nine-hundred-horsepower luxury car)

Scotty I have a 2010 Kia Forte with 119, 000 miles on it. It's a hand me down-- my mom drove it, then my brother drove it, and then I ended up with it. My brother managed to crash it four times, but we've gotten it repaired everytime, and it still somehow manages to be a reliable car. The thing has never broken down or anything. Recently though I've noticed that the engine is extremely noisy--it almost sounds like a school bus. I told the mechanic about this when I went to get a new battery. All he did was top off the oil, and it quieted down a bit, but it's still pretty loud. I think he said he gave me a quart of oil, but this happened like 4 weeks after last oil change. The car still drives just fine though. Thoughts?

I need help so I bought a 99 mustang gt to fix up I sent it to a backyard mechanic I paid him 1700 and he gave it back the same now he called me and said he found an engine with 105, 000 miles for 600 and says he will put it in for 500 so I spent 1700 for nothing and now he s charging me another 1100 to replace the engine what can I do and my sister sent her 2005 infinity g35 she had the vdc and slip light on and he sent the car to autozone to change engine and the transmission oil and her transmission burnt out

Scotty any chance that some after market company will make a replacement transmission for all these Subaru XV CVT's that will be failing soon? I know with motorcycles, aftermarket companies like Tusk make hop up parts to fix some manufacturing engineering oversights.

It's always important to buy a Mercedes Benz that was made 100% in Germany because the quality in Germany are allot better then the American Mercedes Benz quality like what Scotty said before. Make sure you get the real full thing and not half made.

135k odometer miles on a 30yr old Mercedes? Must have been moved often around repair garage! What kind of owner and for which reasons was the rag top not replaced on this originally priced 63k car? Something's rotten in Denmark! No. Germany. Nex-x-xt!

My 2001 C320 V6 petrol was pretty much faultless until she was crashed into by an uninsured driver at almost 200, 000 miles.
In that time a pair of read springs and a MAS sensor caused by k&n over oiling fault of my own.

Those pop up rarely here which sadly I passed up on one a while back for 3000 also but didnt have the cash. 300sls even for 4 with an auto are a steal since they have the bulletproof inline 6. A 500sl though im on the fence

There are a lot of these in California that are perfectly good and rotting away in parking structures because the burning oil makes them not pass emissions. It's insane, I hate this state.
