The V8 Engine is Officially Dead TheRabidPosum: I was happy to hear you say in cars. Still sad though, I would think there would be a high demand for V8's in sports cars. I was thinking who would want a large truck or SUV with a V6? I had an 02 Dodge Dakota with the 4. 7L V8, which I loved. Today if I was going to get a full size pickup I would get a diesel hands down. They get much better milage. I don't know why all the manufacturers aren't looking more into diesel all around, seems to be a much more efficient fuel.

Toyota's the best at making trucks & so far the best at making v8's so I'll take the old v8's & resale will plummet car dealerships rely on used cars they don't make that much off a new car & that will be the end of the Toyota reliability because Mazda makes 60% of the unibody Toyota's now. when passing any dealership the used suvs on display are the off-road Toyota's & almost no1 sells their v8 Toyota's after the other quality VS usability of other trucks unless they only tow with it!

Honestly, that's what I'm waiting for more than anything on the Tundra. I really want to upgrade from my Tacoma to a full size truck, but won't touch the current crop primarily because of that HORRENDOUS gas mileage. When the next gen comes out, especially with one of Toyota's 6 Cylinders, I'll be first in line.

I don't care how cheap those cars from China are, I'm so pissed at China now, not only did they unleash this Virus upon the World throwing everything into Chaos, now their arrogant claims of other countries territorial waters has the whole south-west pacific in an uproar. We need to Cut all ties to China.

The best design would be two electric engines on each axle, and a small 3- cylinder gas engine also on the front axle. And battery panels enabling the owner to swap out the individual 18650 Li-ion batteries.
Do not buy any hybrid until this design architecture is available: -)

The V8 Engine is Officially Dead Pickups. Huge market and the vast majority are sold with V8s now and well into the future. V8s may be dying out in passenger cars but the truck market will keep them going for a very long time.

Thats what I always tell my son when he wants to buy vintage cars. If it was junk back then its junk now. Old Junk is even worse. I'm a lot like you Scotty. I remember what cars were problematic or bad designs back in the day.

Hey Scotty! which will be your choice of these trucks? A Toyota V8 Tundra, V6 Tacoma or the Chrysler engine based 3. 6 Jeep Gladiator with standard transmission? I will live with that mistake for at least 20 years. Thanks!

1972 the last decent year for Thunderbird. Other than the 1955-57 (which I have owned 6) I am partial to the 1963, but with a 1966 428/C6 drive train disguised with 1963 390 engine accoutrements.

I would like to eventually get a challenger as a daily driver and I would not get a v8 model. I dont care about power tbh. I want style, comfort, and decent milage. So the v6 is the one for me
