Lots of people where we have real winter, have realised that salt and fancy alloy rims, do not get along. So, you go to the junk yard, get a set of steel rims, give them a light sanding to remove the rust, and a coat of black rust paint. You put your winter tires on the steel rims, leave your summer tires (often all seasons) on the nice alloy ones. Went to one shop that if your winter tires were on rims, did not charge to switch them over. Of course you usually got some other work done, like change the oil at the time. I have a question for you Mr. K, I have a 2018 Toyota Rav4, front wheel drive, and its coming up on 5, 000km the dealer sticker says wait until its six months and 8, 000km for the oil change, should I wait or schedule it for sooner.

4: 30. damn guess that means my tranny in my 2000 silverado at 235, XXX miles needs to be scrapped cuz the when coming out of reverse there seems to be skip in the action and there is a thunk when it actually starts to move forward. the uv ball joints are all rock solid as i have put a pry bar in them to try and rotate the shaft and there is no play. body is rusting out fairly quick now. i think that new anti icing pre treat they put down on the roads in minnesota makes vehicles rust faster as alot of vehicles are rusting after only being 3-5 years old. could just be my imagination but i see it all over on the 4 wheel drive trucks and cars for the last 16 years now.

PSA: I purchased a part from Part Geeks. Com they said they had the part charged me for it and also charged me 10 shipping. Turns out they dont have the part, refunded me for the part but not the shipping, even though they didnt ship anything to me. I emailed them got nothing but rude replies and then when I called an asked to speak to management they hung up on me and wouldnt answer. Better Business Bureau has been contacted. So save yourselves the pain. Any suggestions?

My uncle was Aerospace engineer. I remember him telling a Interesting thing about rubber. Rubber will last longer if its under some sort of Tension. He told me that flat tires will rot faster. Even pointed out how rubber bands will disintegrate sitting in the drawer but its interesting how sometimes you find a old newspaper that got tossed into a tree or bush and the rubber band is still good. I would store tires on the Rims with a few extra psi.

Hey Scotty I really enjoyed your videos and they are all extremely useful, I have a question, so Im graduating from high school next summer and planing to take a road trip from LA to NY, wondering whats the best car for it, looking for a used German car around 25-45k dollars, preferably a all wheel drive SUV. Any suggestions? I daily drive a Mercedes C300 and a BMW 428i, looking for similar build quality and image, thank you so much

My shop had a business customer owed us less than 200. Business went bankrupt. Couple years later the former business owner came back wanting us to fix his car. We told him sure, as soon as you pay your old bill. He said he went bankrupt and his debts were discharged. We told him all that means is we cant sue you for the bill. you still owe it. He left. without our services. The guy had chutzpah but no integrity.

As an auto body tech thats incorrect. Cutting the rusted piece out and welding in another piece will only create more problems. Oxidation of the metal from the heat of welding will cause it to rust just that much faster. The game is to prevent rust. Once it starts, cutting it out wont solve a thing. Please check on your facts before giving people opinions and potentially spending money that isnt worth it.
