The Big Problem with GDI Car Engines beechcoma: Lets elaborate further than the first 10 seconds of this video about GDI engines. That will need work sooner or later with Walnut blasting. What is it? If you own a car with Direct Injection there will come a time when you car feels like it has lost performance. It could be in the form of terrible gas mileage, hesitation, poor acceleration, or all three. The cause is simple, the explanation a bit longer, so I will keep this short. Since Direct Injection fires directly into the combustion chamber there is no fuel to clean the back side of your intake valves or your intact tract. The residue left over is oil and other contaminants from your cars PCV system (to be discussed later. Normal fuel injection has a fuel injector aimed right down the intact tract and not directly into the combustion chamber. Therefore the intake tract is kept much cleaner thanks to the fuel.

I bought a used 2005 Matrix. After a few hundred miles I got a check engine light. The said the code was that it was running too rich. The shop put in a new mass air flow sensor to pass emissions inspection. A few hundred miles I get the check engine light again. It smells like gas when I start it up cold in the morning and then doesnt smell as I drive it. Do you have an idea what might be the real problem and how best to live with it. Ive driven 25, 000 miles with the check engine light on. It idles a little rough at the first stop light then idles better as it warms up.

Scotty, I have a 2002 Cadillac Escalade with 195, 000 miles on it. Its still in perfect shape inside and out and runs as good as if it were brand new. During the summer however, I noticed that when the engine is still warm from the last time it was driven, it blows a little blue smoke when I first start it up. Ive done some research online and I believe it is a valve seal going bad. I check the oil regularly and it onlyburns about a quart of oil between oil changes. Is this something to worry about or can I continue to drive it this way?

Grand Marquis - One of the Best vehicles I have ever owned Drove and rode like a dream. My only issue with that car was the Electronic Display Instrument Cluster (EDIC. It went bad, and when it did, it wouldnt let the cars engine run at all. I regretfully had to take it to a Stealership for replacement, and computer reprogramming. It was expensive, and the EDIC was from a donator vehicle, as they were very hard to find. Id buy another Grand Marquis in a minute, if I every found a clean one Without the EDIC though. Lesson learned

I have a 7 speed DSG transmission. I have an annoying issue with it taking to long when put into drive before it selects 1st gear and lets you pull away, sometimes up to 5 seconds maybe slightly more. Its annoying missing gaps in traffic to pull away after being parked up. My car is nearly 4 years old with 98k miles. I previously had an issue with parking warning showing on dash while driving which turned out to be the transmission selector. Ive also had this car from new so know the full history.

My moms 2017 Ford Focus SEL has the 2. 0L Gasoline Direct Injection I4 with 160HP and 146lb-ft TQ. Hers is the Sedan variant and its fully loaded without the cold weather package. Funny thing is my 2010 Toyota Camry LE 2. 5L 169HP 6 speed automatic can rev at idle up to redline in park. while the focus has the 6 speed select shift automatic and it only revs to 3, 750 rpm in park. My camrys 2. 5L has dual VVT-I which is relative to having GDI but its a little different.

GM is junk I can confirm. I bought a 2017 camaro ss new. It is an excellent car, performance wise. Reliability is another story. Before I got to 16k miles Ive had to take it back to the dealer multiple times. Ive had to get the rack and pinion replaced, the engine had 2 oil leaks, and a busted front sway bar. It has a GDI system too so Im now looking forward to the future carbon build up issue. Really excited about that one

2013 Chevy Cruze LTZ was the worst car Ive had. By 20, 000 miles, the heater core was leaking coolant and the transmission was shifting hard. I was at the dealer every other weekend and they couldnt figure it out. I took a loss and traded it in (not Chevy. I liked the car itself. Fully loaded with more upgrades from the dealer and the best car that Ive personally had in deep snow but it just wasnt executed properly.

well crap. i just bought a 2019 Kia Optima S. but i get 2 free years of oil changes and i will change the oil every 3-4 months and keep the car in good clean and working conditions. its just for commute and wont be revving the the engine. i traded my 2005 Altima with 108, 000 miles that i bought brand new in March of 2005. served me well. was time for an upgrade. great video and love the content Scotty

Hi Scotty love your videos you share great information. I noticed when you were talking about chain stores you showed advance auto in your photo. I work for them and can assure you that they have akebono pads. In fact about 80% of the parts available are OEM most people look for the cheap way out and buy the cheapest parts then say our parts are crap just because they werent willing to pay for the good stuff
