Hey Scotty, I have a 2000 Toyota Sienna Le. I have a CEL on my dash for a misfire on cylinder 2. I replaced the coils and plugs but the CEL was still on. When I was driving last winter and hit a bunch of snow underneath my car it made my car die while driving, and it start right back up but than my CEL wasn't there anymore. What did it do to it is my question? Did it reset the code or what? Never came back on again. Thanks.

Almost wrecked my '65 Plymouth Fury when I was driving on the freeway and flipped the sun visor down. Big hairy spider was sitting there, just chillin'. I kept driving as I was screaming, about a mile to the next exit (I loved that car; spiders? Not so much. I wonder if anyone looked over and saw me screaming and just figured that was how I got through my daily commute

I have a similar issue on a car that was sitting for about six years. P2422, the EVAP vent valve is stuck closed. I ran compressed air through all of the holes on the EVAP canister and that didn't solve the issue. The vent tube might be clogged. I also may have needed to actually open up the canister but I was pressed for time since I was using my schools lift.

Scotty, I have a 2006 Highlander with a check engine/VSC light on. Two separate mechanics said they have to remove the gas tank to fix it and quoted over 1000. The only reason I want to fix it is to know when the check engine light flags something else. Is this something I should have repaired? Also, is this a job I can do myself?

my 05 echo has had the engine light on for at least 7 years. i had a mechanic say there are 2 parts to the evap system, we'll replace the cheaper one first. didn't fix it. i wouldn't be surprised if he just reset it and didn't do the work. i gave up on it then and have driven with the light on ever since. real pain in the wazoo.

Yeah, sorry, Scotty. The powers that be are correct about the air pollution. I dont want to live in early 90s Los Angeles where the air is so thick with smog pollution that you cant even see half a mile away and people are told to stay indoors because the air outside is poison causing acute asthma.

that is great info, never really thought about that one. I went to look at a 2003 Camry with only 33, 000 miles on it. had been setting for awhile. the salesman said they found a nest in the trunk. so I walked away from that one. who knows how much damage was done to the wiring system

I saw your fancy scan tool. so when you scan for engine codes. does the device come up with an Arachnid Code. check EVAP. am very curious. Is the Black Widow worse than the Brown Recluse? Does encouraging praying mantis to live in your car help as a deterrent?

Wouldn't all these problems go away if you just sealed off the tube with a wooden dowel--no more leaks Especially if you live in a low population area. Los Angeles has a problem but Borger, North Dakota has no similar problem. Unless you're a EPA nazi.
