The middle coach of the AM80 has different seating because originally AM80 trains were only composed of two coaches. They were designed as fast local trains with strong motors, but were almost never used for this purpose. The exces in power was used in advantage by adding a third coach in between. These are newer, which explains the different seating.

These are good trains. Not the most modern, but good enough for the short trips we have in this country.
Anouncements normally happen, but sometimes the conductor is busy or lazy. Most people take this trains often anyway and know very well where they need to be. On a late train after an evening of drinking in BXL, you can fall asleep though. :p

Greetings from the UK, thank you for the great videos. I like the AM80, used to take it regularly from Maastricht to Brussel-Midi many years ago when I lived in Netherlands / Belgium. Keep up the good work! (By the way, I will never understand tagging, it's vandalism, ugly and totally pointless)
reply

The am80 first was only a 2-car (bordeau color scheme) train when it was first refurbished they added the middle coach and maked it a 3-car train, the non-refurbished one in your video is the one were they firstly added the 3th coach, and the new one is the second time they got refurbished

the belgian first class is mostely about siting with less people by example in rush houre because allot of belgians take the train because its a real cheap transportation service if u only need to get to your work so its fun if u pay extra to sit alone and not in a crowded space: )
reply

I'm not sure if they're still around but if you ever get the chance to ride a non-refurbished AM80, you should definitely check out the middle couch on these ones. It's all 2nd class but it has a 1st class feeling, pretty much like sitting in your couch at home.

Another excellent video!
They don't make announcements for station stops and there are no station signs with the station name YIKES!
That is really crappy. Tourist must get lost all the time?
Thanks for sharing! :): ): )

Trains are nice here. I live in a 30k city (which most people call a small town -) and have 6trains/hour going to e. g. Ghent, Brussels and Mons. Trains are quite cheap here. Surely for -26yo (GO PASS 1 or even better GO UNLIMITED)
reply

Actually Flemish is a dialect from Dutch. Oof, it can be confusing that the translations between the Dutch and French cities in Belgium are so different from eachother! Tournai and Doornik for example.
reply

3: 31 I know you're not a native English speaker but rather then seat the correct word is sit. Seat is the noun of the actual seat itself but sit is the verb of someone sitting on a seat

I like your videos a lot, I feel like I-m the one traveling in one of those trains! Please keep posting videos, Thibault! You-ve got a fan base already - ----

When I know that the next train is an AM80, I just wait for the next one. With the frequency that Belgian trains ride, that's often preferable considering how loud these coaches are.
reply

these are my second favorite trains, but they are quite noisy if the widows and doors are open, some passengers pass by and don't even close the doors

5: 00 this is the part made for bike users. When the breaks were built had they only 2 coaches. That's why the seats are not the same.
reply

Liked your movie, but I missed a shot of the outsideof the doornik station with it's unique colorful lighting during the dark hours/ Thanks
reply

You missed a trick with the non refurbished sets, they still have comfy -leather- seats instead of the hard fabric ones.
reply

AM80! ONCF (Morocco) still use them as city link (short trips around Casablanca. They are named ZMC (from 1 to 14)

The middle coaches were added to the AM80 between 1992 and 1995. AM80 originally had only 2 coaches.

reply

02: 08 its cause population density in belgium makes it more possible to make rentable trains unlike france.
reply

The - I don't know how to name this- part is meant for bikes, strollers, wheelchairs and there is a big toilet room
reply

I have a 9 minutes coincidence at Brussels midi, from a thaylis to a train to Amsterdam, could i get It?
reply

I really like how you travel everywhere! Do you do this in your free time or do you just travel a lot for work?
reply

The door closing sound was broken haha. And at de 2nd class there are 2 plugs. On de side by the door.
reply

Hi! The special compartiment at 4: 55 is for people with bikes. Greetings from a Belgian train lover: )
reply

Great content in the video. However, your camera moves too fast so I feel dizzy watching the video.
reply

If my train is this type, I should always take the middle car with the more comfortable seats.
reply

the newer one that you took is called the AM80m internally and the m stands for modernised.
reply

There are power outlets on square seats. They are up on the ceiling or something.
reply

You probably saw the last not-refurbished one and by now it should be in the workshops.
reply

Flemish doesn't exist as a seperate language.
