The Union Pacific's Sunset Route stretches through the deserts of the Southwestern United States from the LA Basin all the way to El Paso Texas. Many through trains from the eastern part of the country run on the Sunset Route. Several of these through trains run with locomotives from Norfolk Southern (NS) and CSX rather than changing out all the power. This expedites the journey by eliminating the need to swap motive power once the train enters the Union Pacific System. As such, it is not uncommon to see trains on the Sunset Route that have so called Foreign Power in the locomotive consist. In this video, you will see a few trains from Summer of 2013 of Norfolk Southern locomotives leading trains on this route. Locations include Date Palm, AZ, Palm Springs, CA, and Beaumont Hill
Bigmindcreator: And I was wondering why BNSF units were assisting CSX in oil runs to Philadelphia on 11/3/13. Theyre all in the west while BNSF is helping in the east. Date: 2022-05-12
