Historic Streetcar systems are becoming popular all over North America. They provide both a unique link to the past and a practical mode of public transportation. California is one of the best places to see examples of vintage streetcar systems. Let's take a look at these historic streetcars in action in 3 major California cities

It really is wonderful to be taken back to a time in your life that you wouldn't hesitate to return to if only it were possible. That's what those PCC cars do for me, especially the ones in Toronto livery. They look (and sound) identical, or nearly so, to those that I loved in Vancouver in the late forties and early fifties. San Francisco looks like an operational streetcar museum. What brilliant foresight they had to come up with an idea like that! I hope you can keep these videos coming.

Thanks for a very good video Mike. You have captured one of my favorite topics. As a Brit in the UK I really enjoy the trolley cars of the US. I particularly liked the PE red car. I look forward to hopefully seeing some more of your 'Trolley Travels'.
Best Regards. John

Very cool, I use to live in San Diego, and when I left I believe they were still in the process of fixing up those vintage cars. It was neat to see downtown again and realising that I still remember most of those buildings. Thanks for posting this.

Was able to sit out and enjoy watching those PCCs all day when I had went to Pier 39 back in 2012 and again at the end of 2018! It always makes me happy that these folks are able to keep these old beauties running.

Hey, very good videos! I have one question: Are these old streetcars regularly used for public transportation or only used for special journeys?
reply

San Diego and San Pedro already have or are planned to have light rail. They should give their streetcars to San Francisco's E and F Lines.
