A tip, pull the wicks out of the candles and cut them up into about 1 inch lengths, then put a wick in each egg carton cell pointing up with the sawdust and then fill the carton completely with wax. You can also use dryer lint instead of sawdust and if you impregnate the entire outer surface with wax it will make the whole thing waterproof. I carry these on canoe and camping trips and they will start fires even in wet conditions.

I have lived in Japan when my two babies were young. I share this to say that I can relate; also, my husband was a black belt martial arts in at least two different styles. Again, I can telate

Back when I was in the Army, I learned how to make field-expedient demolitions and incendiaries. One of them was a fire starter like yours that consisted of sawdust, wax, and magnesium powder mixed up and formed in empty 1qt milk paper milk cartons. A drop of water would set 'em on fire.

I’ve also seen people take sawdust and put it through a pressing machine to press it all down and let it dry and then you could use the press wood in your fireplace with all the sawdust that you have around your house

Fabulous I build a fire everyday in the winter months and I have never needed a fire starter I simply use miscellaneous paper products and kindling in my woodstove
