you tell me how there are specialized groups trained and ready to defend the people/world, and yet they were so far from prepared for a virus - a known part of the earths biome. One of the most glaring weaknesses of humanity is its desperate need to be social. If you were not a human but you wanted to invade humanity and spread throughout it, anything that takes advantage of their social nature is top of the list easiest ways to get it done. you evolve to fester in one individual only to contaminate multiple others per individual infected? exponential spread? absolutely perfect adaptation. we do all the work and we full on deserve it.
ironic plot twist: each and any win against viruses/bacteria creates an inevitable future situation that is twenty times more difficult to survive, considering the increasing antibiotic resistance and also humanity's shortcomings

The GOP and the con man in chief have lied to people calling the virus a hoax and making fun of wearing masks. Faux Noise and the GOP echo chamber have been irresponsible and played politics with public health.
They have hurt their states and the country. Many people have needlessly died because of their lack of leadership and denial of science. The GOP degraded science and scientists. They do not deserve to be in office and should resign. Register and VOTE for leaders that respect science. Your life may depend on it.

In regards to the first graph showing increasing occurrences of potential pandemics, do you think that there is a possibility that this is due to increases in disease monitoring / proactive work by scientists to seek out new threats. Particularly since you mentioned it began in the 60s, (when science and computer technology gained a big footing) and then obviously increased following that trend.
I'm probably wrong, but just genuinely curious.

Just by reading through the comment's it is obvious that many will never understand! It seems unlikely that any virulent pathogen can be contained as long as people have the ability to cross the globe in the span of a day! Let's blame airplanes! That's most likely how this last one and others moved so quickly! Study all you want and air travel will still be the cause of fast spreading world scale outbreaks almost every time!

We haven't even stopped the first wave of this one. According to what is being said about the vaccine, we may have to take more than one shot to get an effective response to the virus. And for those without healthcare, how are they going to afford this? Trump has yet to release his plans for health care reform yet. He's hoping to get elected then release his surprise on all Americans

This is anti-science propaganda. Humans and animals have been coexisting forever. These viruses are human created in labs for depopulation agendas, not organically spawned from human to wildlife interaction. These are lies!
