Why People Are Freaking Out About MrBeast, Tommy Robinson Released, & Trump Mueller Escalates Alwaysawesome Andanonymous: Ive only been watching up to the end of the MrBeast controversy so far, and heres my thoughts: THE INTERNET SHOULD NOT BE CENSORED. Its just that simple. This is, or at least should be, a free information platform that can be accessed universally. We literally have computers with relatively full internet access in our pockets. Im wording things carefully because I do understand that there is illegal, horrible stuff that happens on the internet-- I myself have stumbled across horrible atrocities on places like 4chan or TOR and even equally if not worse things on the supposedly innocent YouTube and Facebook. However, simple click bait thumbnails should not be banned. I would even dare to say that his thumbnail wasnt even a bad case of click bait, as having watched the video I can verify he did actually ask that question and test it (rather than say, displaying a womans breasts in an unnecessary and unrelated manner that doesnt even make it in to the video. I get that the threat isnt, We should ban all clickbait or We should ban everything dangerous or We should ban thumbnails/MrBeast/guns or something along those lines. I do think that Western culture is getting out of hand with rage culture and mob mentality though, and we are beginning to see more and more innocent cases get swarmed and attacked while more truly vile content is getting ignored or even promoted. Yeah, pointing an AK-47 or any gun at someone is dangerous (and illegal in most cases. However, a thumbnail by some YouTuber that has done quite literally no damage shouldnt be viewed like its some sort of war atrocity by so many people. People have ought to grow up and reflect on their own maturity before going on the internet if they seriously cant handle stuff as simple as this.

Gag orders are pointless. Jurors are always going to be biased, the idea you could insulate them from bias is antiquated, like half the laws on the books. Laws are poorly made, and the way the laws work is fundamentally flawed. To put it in perspective, the Constitutions are examples of well designed laws. They're durable, they can adapt with the times, they can be relatively easily interpreted. And you can add to them. If you think of the Constitution as a software program, it's clear they had the principles or Agile development in mind. Code should be as simple as possible and as detailed as necessary, the amendments are classes within the Constitution program, they can be individually altered without compromising the whole, and you can add more functionality as necessary. New laws are just badly written code by shitty nepotism hires that don't hold a candle to the original programmers. They had that shit on lock centuries ago and modern politician, that means Democrats, Republicans, Independents, all a yas, with all the technology at your disposal, aren't even worthy to warm the bench with our forefathers and foremothers. Y'all are waterboys and watergirls, so serve the refreshments and let the real pro work.

I'd like to point out that a gag order on a case is not against free press. For a case like this where members are being trialled individually at different times by different juries, the media is not allowed to report to prevent any bias that future jurors may have on members who have not been tried yet. Journalists are still allowed to attend the trials, make notes, collect evidence and start building their reports but can only publish those reports after all members have been fairly sentenced to protect the individuals right to a fair trial. This is also a reason why we don't allow pictures or videos to be taken in a courtroom, to protect the defendant until a conclusion has been made. This in no way inhibits free press, it simply delays it so that everyone may receive a fair and honest trial, and therefore a fair and honest sentence, so that we may keep the UK justice system fair and honest. As a journalist myself, I believe this is fair. I will however say that because Tommy (I do not support him, the EDL or his views) is not an official member of the press and voicing his opinion on social media, as any person is allowed to do under freedom of speech, he should not have been held in contempt of court.

MrBeast story: overreactionTommy Robinson story: I don't stand for what he believes but I do think that overturning his 10 month sentence was the right choice since the first trial seems to not have been fair. All people, even those I don't agree with, deserve the fair process under law. As do the men in the first trial with the gag order so Robinson should have some punishment just maybe not as harsh. Gag orders are even more necessary in this day and age to keep a jury impartial in my opinion. Mueller story: All Trump's tweets do is distract the media and the American people from actual issues. We are caught up in the reality tv version of America. Why do we never focus for long on the shitty policies being pushed day by day on us? Trump and his excellent ability to distract. We quickly accept the newest story and discuss for hours how offensive Trump is. It's ridiculous how we all fall for it. ICE's atrocities, Supreme Court appointee, healthcare, tariffs and farmer bailouts, that's just a small taste of the real issues facing our country that gets pushed to the side for Trump tweets and Trump collusion drama.

I'll say the same thing I said when you last talked about Tommy Robinson; gag orders are a good thing. If you're on trial for something you didn't do, for example raping children, would you really want the media and public smearing your name and tipping the jury? That'd make a trial unfair and biased. And I know if I was on trial I'd want an unbiased jury that hasn't been influenced by media/news smear campaigns. So many people will believe the news and media these days, and they don't care that they're dragging peoples names through the mud and ruining a potentially innocent persons life. If you're found not guilty and there was no gag order, your life will be ruined Everyone will think you're a child rapist or whatever else, even though you aren't and it'd make life considerably harder. But if you are found guilty, then the media and news outlets can do all their nasty articles sure. I don't see why news and media outlets can't just wait to report on things, it's better for everyone in my opinion. Less false news, less ruining people's lives for clicks and views, and more truth and facts.

I am not super political, but I think that law being properly held up for all matters, or else what's the point of law? Law and balance, yo. I think there are better ways to keep the jury unbiased, and this can be improved on. How exactly? I'm not sure, potentially a more paid isolation. Sure, locking the press from speaking means less details get out, but who is to stop the public from speaking about the case in general? Friends and family potentially, but even say that waitress down at the bar you frequent. Chances are you /will/ hear others opinions, and stopping the press from releasing information, giving ground to even more outlandish rumours that could still bias the jury. I don't know if I'm making sense, but I think there are better ways to go about this. Sorry, I don't normally weigh in because I don't think I have much to add, so this may not be formatted terribly clear.

The gag order has some merit, especially now in the echo chamber that is the majority of news outlets, deciding guilt or innocence purely on whos team the accused played for, but the point is invalidated by the fact that those who are arrested covering the news end up making the headlines. Robinson's arrest made waves not only in the local area, but globally. A gag order not only kills the freedom of the press, but also amplifies what they were covering, effectively shooting the order in the foot. Im not familiar with uk law, but in the US it would be a colossal shit show if this was to happen. He'll, we saw the backlash from both sides when a cnn reporter was uninvited to a white house breifing. The only thing holding politics accountable is a free and honest press, granted the second is rare now, but broken clocks are right twice a day

I think people are missing the point on Tommy Robinson. He was not given due process under the law which every man woman and child is entitled to. Justice. From the sounds of things the proceedings were unfair, rushed and the verdict overly harsh due to bias. I'm not a Tommy supporter (only just heard of him) but it's scary to see someone (in my own country) tried unfairly because of their beliefs rather than their deeds. I'm just a normal guy, not an activist, feminist, nazi, right, left, up, down, blah blah. but I do believe in equal rights for ALL. Everyone deserves a fair trial.

I can see a judge not allowing information released to the public by the press for a time, being the job itself is an avenue to release information to the public I can understand the delay if it is to prevent swaying the Jury in any way due to missing, inaccurate, inadmissible information, or the like. If there is a chance of mistrial or related charges that will require a new jury trial. This could prevent the press from causing accidental jury-rigging. That would be my hope at the least.

Tommy Robbinison is not a racist or a facist, he does a lot of charity work in the Hindu and the Sihk comunity's also there is no criminal charge agaist Tommy at the moment the highest court in the land (the old Bailey) can't even find a crime that Tommy is guilty of they have now sent it to the Etorney General. The old Bailey has dealt with the UKs most serious and complicated murders and rapes yet they can't deal with Tommy because he is innocent of any crime
