WOW The PewDiePie Situation, Trust Problems, Fortnite Legal Troubles Grow, & Trump's New BAN anottakenusername: You can't. own. simple. BODY MOVEMENTS. It's this same entitled I'm always a victim mindset that gave birth to our sue everyone and make false accusations culture as well as the insane SJWs trying to shame and ruin everyone's lives. Also, independent media youtubers are inherently more trustworthy than mainstream media because they can actually show you stories in an unbiased way without having to bow to the wishes of a corporate master. If they are biased you can easily watch someone else who is more fair minded. They can expose you to dozens of people's REAL personal opinions rather than falsely claim to be in touch with the average citizen like the mainstream pretends to be. In reality, the mainstream censors opinions they don't like, such as conservative minorities for example. Most importantly youtubers tend to be more humble and when they are unsure about something they are willing to say the 3 magic words, I don't know instead of pretending to always have the answers which is something you never hear from the mainstream media. Even DeFranco's own warning against instantly trusting people like him is a perfect example of this authentic online cautiousness. Youtubers police each other and will expose anyone who comes off as fraudulent which is made easier by having hours of archived footage to analyze. Past generations only listened to the mainstream because they felt like they had no choice even though deep down most people already suspected they were being manipulated.

That teacher is in the minority of people who still trust mainstream media and is probably a boomer. These organisations aren't posting news in print but online if they want trust they need to provide links and embedded videos to support their hit pieces and take down attempts rather than partial quotes taken out of context. It would also be cool if they could maybe lose the whole guilt by association meme where they attempt to tar millions of people for supporting anything they don't like. Also some outlets (wsj) have crossed the line when it comes to regaining trust and for them to win back that trust they would need major turnovers the editors all need to be taken out into the street and publicly flogged and they need to promise to stop running pieces by freelance journalist who specialise in 'take downs' like cool you got a bunch of hits on that piece and are part of the conversation for a single day but you are decaying trust in your own brand that shouldn't be a worthwhile trade off for someone supposedly presenting the truth.

I'm from Canada and I trust the media here for the most part. I don't think anyone or any entity can be entirely unbiased, but the news outlets should try to be as unbiased as possible. Regardless of the source, it's our responsibility as consumers to think critically about what we are being told and why. I think a lot of the mainstream media in the US is being produced and consumed as entertainment rather than actual news, which is concerning. My partner and I have actually had discussion about how insane a lot of US news reports are compared to here. We noticed this even years ago before the extreme divide we see now. Everything is sensational and flashy, filled with sound bites and forced drama. I think a lot of people are desensitized to it now and care more about the show than the actual content of the story. I don't blame journalists for this. I think journalists are people more frustrated than I am with this pattern, but many of them have to fall into it to keep up. It's sad and unfortunate and I'm not sure how we can change it.

Alright, not a fan of Fortnite, sure, and while these suits are kinda funny, I don't really support them. Sure, copyright is important so that an artist can retain creative license, however here's the thing: if someone cannot replicate something by someone else in hommage and respect to it, then what kind of precedent does this set? How many of us have learned about something through another medium? Darude Sandstorm from memes is a start for some people. Hopefully what may come out of it is stopping payment for such hommages, with them working more like Easter eggs rather than cash cows. That bit is maybe shady, but even then those had to be replicated and made by Fortnite staff. The only thing they have that isn't theirs idea, which is kinda the purpose. I guess I just come from an era of public use, and having had my work used and used others willy nilly is part of the online climate. A whole beat em, join em attitude.

I hope Fortnite loses every lawsuit against it because the game is a perfect example of BAD game design and is a drain on artistic creativity in the medium of gaming when idiots throw their money at it. We encourage bad practices on part of devs by HOW we use our money and WHAT we are willing to pay for. If you want shit like FO76, Diablo Immortals, microtransaction, and Waluigi not being in smash(heh) then you need to speak with your wallet and don't buy it EVERY GAME YOU BUY IS ADDING A +1 TO EVERYTHING THAT GAME STANDS FOR WHICH ENCOURAGES OTHERS TO FOLLOW SUIT AND USE THE SAME DESIGNS.

Hi Phil, I'm in Ireland and I find our mainstream media very guided by the government and seem to promote what the government want them to promote and there are very few individuals in large organisations who push back against that. It is quite difficult to find a media outlet in Ireland that just gives you all the sides, all the information so that you can form your own opinion. You really have to search and it's really up to your own integrity how hard you search to get all the information.

Neutrality and non bias are two different things. Also, having political opinions and talking about them does not mean you are presenting the news with bias. Ill give an example, The Young Turks is known as a highly liberal media company, but they present the news with no bias. They present the facts and then go into what they think afterwards. Having opinions and expressing them doesnt mean you cant be an honest journalist.

I think theyre just using Felixs name cause its a big youtuber name to talk about the real issue of Nazi and White Supremacist propaganda going undisciplined on these social media sites. However, the fact they keep using Felix, despite him not having any scandals for a couple years now and the one he did have he immediately got on top of, is ridiculous. Like i dont know if they realize theyre just making him a martyr

The reason they are moving forward with the bump stock ban is because lefties dont understand how useless it actually is and how few gun owners care that they will be banned. The Vegas shooter most likely would have been more successful had he NOT used a bump stock so there you go. The lefties got a gun piece banned and the righties don't really care cause it's pretty useless anyway. Good job.

So you are telling me that if the media works on reducing instances of twisting the truth or outright fabrication people will trust it more? That so profound, apparently honesty makes people trust you. Seriously though I think the problem wasn't a few bad apples in the barrel causing trouble, but a bunch of bad apples on top of the barrel, or basically the very biased management.
