I do not support the NZ shooter or their actions, the events that took place were incredibly horrible and disgusting, but to say this individual carried out the attack for personal notoriety and fame is completely false and inaccurate. while I do support the choice to not use the individual's name or spread their videos I want information to be relayed accurately. Prior to the attack, the shooter released some documents to the public about their plan where they attempted to explain themselves (i will not post it out of respect to the victims, so please don't ask. In this document the shooter addresses specifically whether or not the attack was carried out for fame. The response was as follows. No, carrying out an attack for fame would be laughable. After all who can remember the name of the attackers in the September 11 attack in New York? How about the attack on the pentagon? The attackers in the plane that crashed into the field on the same day? I will be forgotten quickly. Which I do not mind. After all I am a private and mostly introverted person. But the aftershock from my actions will ripple for years to come, driving political and social discourse, creating the atmosphere or fear and change that is required. What this individual was really after is to instill fear into the public. To have his actions speak for him, and have his actions gain fame. By focusing so much on this story and spreading the narrative about this horrible individual we are playing right into what they wanted. This individual wanted to create social discourse and have his actions gain as much media coverage a possible to show everyone that no place is safe from this type of hatred. I would sadly say that they have succeed, everyone around the globe had caught wind of this story and knows of his actions. Potential victims are terrified, radicals with a similar mindset are inspired, and everyone else is still trying to figure out how to handle the aftermath. NZ's prime minister has handled her involvements in media coverage wonderfully and should serve as an inspiration to other leaders round the globe; however, we need to take a stronger approach to moving away from condemning these terrible actions over and over again and instead flip the scrip and do exactly the opposite of what this monster wanted. We need to create a culture of acceptance, tolerance and open support for cultures different from our own. Change the narrative to one of that says, our fellow man is in a time of need and grieving and we need to show empathy and compassion in the same way we would hope to be done for us in our own times of need. Use this tragedy as a the catalyst to bring people closer together than ever before. Do not let fear and hate dictate our lives and the lives of others.

Russia is not the first country to come down and and fine or otherwise punish fake. false or misleading news from not just news agencies but from individuals and its not something new. Norway and the Netherlands have had laws like this for some years and France has recently passed fake and false news laws and so now has the EU Parliament, Not I am talking only about the fake news, false new laws and not the laws over opposition to the government. When it comes to laws against news that is printed and is blatant lies and the reporter making the report knew it was, I think the US should think about some of those laws in its own situation. Just like freedom of speech does not protect you if you yell 'fire' in a crowded place and cause a stampede i think blatant lies that are designated as 'news' and as 'truthful for the purpose of harming someone in some way should be legally punishable. And no, saying athat we have laws libel laws does not cover it as they have been so pulled apart and watered down the test for what even amounts to liablel is ridiculous, As for countries that come down hard on opposition to the governments, Burma, N Korea, Guinea, china, Vietnam, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia - I could go on as there are many more that have laws that are much stricter then what Putin just made regarding the opposition to the government statements. While I know that to the US Russia stands as the biggest evil in the world, that's not really the case at least yet. It maybe heading back to being that evil it was in the days of Stalin, but there are countries right now out there that make Russia still appear fairly moderate. that does not make Russia right but we need to be pointing out the other big offenders and not act like Russia is the only bad guy.

Also given that people investigating Pizza Gate were wracking their minds over super secret kiddy diddling code speak as S/S 2015 F/W 2016 which fair number of people that don't fit the demographic of average male, crazy cat ladies, 50+ year olds with research books stacked 10-20 volumes tall around their reclining chairs, would not know was simply the fashion world terms for Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter, despite the context being they're crawling through instagram accounts of designers, and artists in search of child exploitation. Is it wrong to think these people won't be the sort to buy designer clothing to begin with? Probably not? Could they afford it? Hey I am hopeful for Google but I cannot imagine how they are going to get around all the issues with all the networks and all the ISP and all the different everything that can make or break a decent connection. How does the guy in a home with old wiring to his modem from the pole and a louse wifi signal through his house that does not even reach all rooms and the a very generic wifi card have the same experience as the guy with fiber through out and a new high end modem from his ISP with his computers hardwired with fiber throughout his house and a high speed hub? Google may server up to the point that they have control over the same signal and the same speed but after that its all depending on a great many things that google cannot control. I can see many people scrambling to upgrade what they have and what they can upgrade to get as best as they can but not everyone is going to have the same experience, and not every experience is going to be as positive as google says it will be. It would be nice to think that they could push something out so hard that nothing it hits can possible deteriorate the stream but that is just not possible

So i'm a network engineer and this Stadia announcement sounds like fluff and its always going to be fluff. Sad fact is 90% of america's internet infrastructure is decades old we are still struggling to get gigabyte speeds for consumers. IF and I stress if google actually can deliver 4k it will be pixalated on almost every game just like every other streaming service. WHY? because as good as googles streaming service may be its hindered by Comcast, Verizon, AT&T or whoever you carrier is. This means until google fiber or something comes along that can actually give the content to the consumer at guarantied rates your screwed. Along with this service being silly for the other main reason so your internet is out dam if i could only play a game. o wait i can't because streaming doesn't work offline even if its single player oh you where right in the middle of your game when the internet went out and you didn't save ooopseeee. Just not viable in this day and age maybe someday when internet outage and internet in general is similar to power with many redundancies and almost zero outage/latency

Does no one else see the irony in this video? Phil is disturbed by new laws that will censor disrespect in Russia, but wholeheartedly approves of social media companies in their censorship of videos of the New Zealand shooting. Dont get me wrong, Im all for voluntarily giving the perpetrator the silent treatment. But censorship is a slippery slope. What happens if a government chooses to misuse its power, perhaps with a terrorist attack? Or perhaps theres an assassination committed by the mob, or a pharma or oil company. If any reporting with the perpetrators name and/or face is forcefully censored and were already conditioned to believe thats good and normal - how can the people hold big power responsible? Censorship of unpalatable ideas always sounds good at the time, but unpalatable ideas are the price we pay to hold big power in check.

Honestly not excited for the Google system Phil. Not only is the net lacking in a great many areas in the US but net neutrality was repelled if you remember. So with terrible infrastructure, few options, data caps and expensive internet for decent speeds. A great many will not be able to use the service. Not only that but digital rights in America for the consumer are garbage. Amazon can ban you for petty reasons making you lose access to all your books, etc. Digital purchases do not really belong to you in many ways and you can easily get screwed out of them without anything given back to you. This Google service is another live subscription service that takes all power out of the hands of the consumer. A full digital system in which you never own anything. Hard pass.
