This is a pretty common occurrence with Neo-Nazi marches here in Germany, though usually it's a very small group of Neo-Nazis who have gotten a permit to protest and then like 10x the number of counter protesters show up and the Neo-Nazis get surrounded by police so that no fights break out. It sucks that those Neo-Nazis disturbed the Pride parade but ultimately I think this was handled very well by the police, especially since so many of them were clearly in solidarity with Pride. In a country where people can just bring loaded firearms to a crowded event it's even more crucial that police are there to keep the peace, and I think it was very brave of those cops to essentially provide a body shield in case one of those gun-toting bigots decided to use the opportunity to massacre a large number of people. I know there are a lot of problems with the police in the US but I think in this case the criticism is unwarranted.

Are liberals retarded? Of course the police needs to escort the neonazis, if the police weren't there to do that, a violent riot would occur, started by either one of the two fronts (LGBTQs can be quite violent too)Yes neonazis are shit, but the police escorting them are not doing so to support their ideology, but simply to keep he peace. By law even shitty neonazis have right to assembly, protest, manifest, etc. and as long as they do so peacefully they are not breaking the law. In addition some of those neonazis were armed (again not breaking the law there at least not in that state) but clearly if a conflict would have arisen it could have escalated into people getting shot - possibly killed. Not to mention many of those police officers were black. not really a demographic that is loved by neonazis. Frankly I applaud the courage of those policemen and policewomen in what was probably a pretty tense situation

So, Phil, you do clearly have a policy of not explicitly calling out Trump, his supporters, and the non-extremist alt-right members. I understand that it is for the purpose of trying to remain neutral, so as not to alienate a significant part of your fanbase, and to continue to foster your well earned reputation as a fair and balanced provider of news and opinions. I do, and always will, fundamentally disagree with the frequency with which you do this. But to label you as alt-right? That is completely ridiculous. Anyone who spends really ANY period of time watching your content would understand this. Although I believe that NYT article WAS indeed addressing a significant issue, the incompetence with which the team behind it operated once again managed to hamstring a good message with impulsiveness and narrow-mindedness. A shame you got caught up in it.

It was a ridiculous misstep by the NYT associating Phillip with the alt-right and I'm glad they at least acknowledged the discrepancy. However, for everyone in the comments, mocking even the concept of YouTube being a radicalizing force, I just don't think you're paying close enough attention. In the past two decades, we've witnessed waves of people switch from getting their information from journalistic sources to hardcore ideological ones. each one carving out, not just alternative opinions, but also alternative realities. The internet and social media did a great job bypassing the traditional gatekeepers of information. However, I think we all expected that the larger population was better equipped to navigate this newly opened terrain.

Although I dont agree with the pride group I certainly dont agree with what those Nazi people people believe. Any one who believes that communism or socialism are blind to the historic events that display the hurt and hate these beliefs have caused. But I do believe in free speech and although I may not agree with these people they have a right to say what they believe as long as it doesnt call harm or oppression to action or spread false information. The cops had the right idea and Im glad no fights nor injuries occurred. Once again I dont believe theses that what these people are say is even a fraction of pleasant but I do believe in free speech.

The police escort makes me think of my father. Hes a doctor. He has a duty to treat the person in front of him. Even if its a mass murderer, he has the means (training) to try to save him. You dont just do your job with people you like. This is the only way the system can even hope to work. Otherwise the power trip is just too tempting and personal revenge being accessible is not something that would promote noble people in taking the job up. I think those people sucked, but I think the police very may well have averted a crisis or tragedy with this situation. Their job is not the optics of a thing, but the thing itself.

When something terrible happens, people look for reasons. I understand how hate speech and extreme videos online can affect someone, but this article just reminds me of the Columbine shooting, and how everyone after the fact latched onto the fact that the kids allegedly liked Marilyn Manson, so y'know, it HAD to be HIS fault. Culture does affect how we act, but how we act also affects the kind of culture we're drawn to. No one inadvertently slips into heavy alt-right stuff without having some affinities with the ideas to begin with, you'd just click off like wth was that. and move on.

phillyD there is nothing innocent about it. It is Legacy media struggling to sell their buggywhips in the automotive age. It is the Billion dollar companies (including tech social-media giants) trying to control thought and herd the populace like cattle. All they want is for you to keep buying their garbage and think as they tell you. You, and other major YT creators (like PewdiePie or Crowder) scare teh hell out of them. Why do you think someone that has been challenged for years Just Now starts a shitstorm over it? Why do you think CNN gets worse ratings than home improvement shows?

What do I think about this? I think you're a damn coward. The article was garbage in general and I'm ashamed for you that you didn't call it out further. Yeah you were on there. So was Ben Shapiro and Dave Rubin and JBP. so was NOBEL LAUREATE MILTON FRIEDMAN. Obviously none of them are alt-right. Why didn't you defend them at all? Lonely douche consumes right-wing content and then gasp dates a christian women then changes his mind due to peer pressure is not news. This is a hit piece designed to expose the Youtube community to censorship. Why are you too chickens to say that?
