I live in the EU (until brexit goes through x) ) and I upload to youtube. This article 13 BS is the only positive that could come from brexit. It means we won't be affected by it, possibly. I do not see how any company like YouTube is going to be willing to take on such a huge risk. I am pretty sure that for a while, uploads will be blocked in the EU. Something similar will happen to when GDPR was first released and US sites simply blocked EU access for a bit. Except, I don't see how they're going to ever not block it. YouTube simply cannot check every piece of content that gets uploaded for copyrighted material. It's impossible. I really do not see a solution to this. EU elections are coming up. People need to vote for those who oppose article 13. Unfortunately the majority of people probably doesn't care about it or doesn't know about it, and those who do will think it is pointless to go vote because it won't change anything anyway. I hope people will vote and make a change, but I don't see it happening.

The large media conglomerations applaud the passage of the new copyright laws in Europe because they know those laws only apply to the little guy and not to them. After all, he who has the gold makes the rules. How many times have companies gone after the little guy for IP theft while brazenly stealing IP themselves? Frequently from the same people they were trying to nail. My guess is this is about money. The greedy bastards are just looking for another revenue stream as more and more people switch to VPNs and ad blockers to try and slow the onslaught of crap they throw at us every single day in every imaginable way. This is going to spread from Europe until eventually all we will be able to watch online is one lonely video of paint drying. The rest will be on the dark web squeezed in between the slave sales and the child porn. Or we will have to go make our own internet. with board games. and craft beer.

Unpopular opinion here, but I support the move to drop Smollett's charges. Not because I don't think it's possible he did what he was accused of, but because I think it's possible he didn't. Even he likely did what he was being charged with, it's easy to forget just how damaging time in prison can be. The world changes FAST, in just a short 5 year sentence, a child goes from a toddler to being an 8 year old kid. Between 2005 and 2010, Facebook became Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Youtube, Instagram, and Tumblr all launched. Because it is plausible that he didn't do what what he is accused of, is the risk of doing that kind of damage to a person's life really worth it? What's the worst that happens if he walks free? I understand the urge to get justice served, but at what cost?

Speaking about Art. 13: The consequences will be even more dramatic than Philip said, since it doesn't just influence YouTube. The directive aims at all websites that allow users to upload stuff (every website older than 3 years. 'Cause if you can upload something (even if it's just a comment on discussion forum, it's possible for you to hurt the copyright law. Problem: Even this smallest websites will be treated exactle as YouTube. They have to get licences from EVERY person in the world or buy expensive filter technology. Aka: While YouTube will kind of manage to follow the directive, the smaller companies and websites will be forced to take down their service.

Being both an artist who regularly gets stolen from and from the EU: I'm against it. I still won't be able to sue big companies, same as every other artist. When hot topic steals your art for their shirt, what will you do? Nothing. Meanwhile most theft by individuals is done by countries like Vietnam, so again, it gives me no power. All it gives me is concern that I'll somehow get caught in the crapstorm and only large corporations who didn't really need help protecting their stuff, will have any use from it and they'll probably abuse it anyway same way they normally abuse fair use / copyright.

i would love for the whole of eu to e actually banned from all major website, google, youtube etc. and let us be in total darkness as to what happens in the world. which in turn will lead to a massive backlash and anarchy and ultimately get article shitteen revoked: . p. s. i am in the eu and wouldn t mind missing yt, and everything that is even remotely affected by this, for a while in order to get everything back to normal. oooor most major companies like google, that will be affected by this should start up their own vpn companies to not lose as much revenue: )

This entire situation is a reminder that there should never be an attempt to prove a case in the court of public opinion. The fuq? Public opinion was on his side until CPD told us it was a hoax. Seems like someone wanted to fuel the flames of ideological warfare by pointing out how prejudiced we all are. no matter the set up. He's innocent How dare you think he's guilty. Gets found out as hoax, but then charges are droppedSee? He's innocent, how dare you think he could have been guilty.

Im so glad I watched your video cause I saw the news break while I was at work and so I didnt see the video just the quote from the mayor. From the way the headline was phrased, it was like his community service and the 10, 000 that led to the mayor to drop charges against him. Im glad the mayor and officers are as upset as this story as I am. The mayor was right, those with money or influence get treated with favoritism. Money is the highest privilege one can have in this country.

The actual point is. you DON'T know what happened. Yet, you have the guy tried and convicted He made a fool of the media and got away with it. He's not the first, won't be the last. The alternative would be to arrest all the white people who have done worse and caused Los of life. Whites would be forced to look at thier own hypocrisy. I almost wish the courts would have tried to pursue this hot mess MEDIA FOOLS
