Very well researched video and clearly explained The main factor in the elections that will play out is whether the smaller parties will pass the election threshold. In Israeli elections you need 3. 25% of the vote to be represented at the Knesset or Israeli parliament. There are two big parties (Likud and Blue and White) along with the Labor party which will almost certainly pass the eligibility threshold or 3. 25%. But there are a dozen or so parties for which polls have indicated they go anywhere from 4% to 5% and all twelve parties could slip beneath the eligibility threshold. You have the religious Shas party and United Torah Judaism party which will probably get around 5% each, but only 50% of their voters claim to be determined to go to the polls. You have the Jewish Home and Israel Beitenu which are left wing parties who are not sure to make the 3. 25% mark, polls give them anywhere from 2 to 5%. You have the Kulanu party which was struggling to reach 3. 25% in polls, occasionally reaching 4%, then sliding back to 2%. Then you have Meretz and Hadash Tal, Meretz being the American equivalent of the Socialist workers party and the Green party put together, and Hadash Tal being an Arab party who kind of wants to give back as much of Israel to Arabs as it can. Meretz and Hadash Tal both have anywhere from 2 to 5%, as only 30% of so of their voters claim in polls they will surely vote for them. Then you have the new right party which has made 4 to 5% in the polls, but could slip beneath the 3. 25% mark. And you have the Zehut party which is the British equivalent of the loony monster party, but has anywhere from 3 to 5% of voters rooting for them. So the main question in these elections are: which parties will pass the 3. 25% threshold. Second question will be, if the president decides to appoint Blue and White to form a government, will the Arab parties accept to join them for a coalition. That would technically (if I recall) be the first time ever Arab parties join a coalition. But Blue and White could not form a coalition without the Arabs according to polls, unless something very unlikely happens which is that the labor party explodes on election day and gets something like 20% while Meretz gets something like 8% and Kulanu gets another 5 or 6% of the vote. Cant wait until Tuesday 8 PM Israel time for the election results.

Phil thank you for covering this, it was so interesting to hear an outsider's view on all of it and I am glad an objective neutral side still sees that Bibi is playing a very dirty game to stay in power even if he is not guilty on these charges (which I believe he is. I am a 26 year old Israeli, born and raised btw: DI am voting blue and white party this coming Tuesday election although I am (sadly) doubtful they will win. last election was the same tune only a different opposition party to Bibi and that time when the other party started to get support on election day, Bibi said on national television that people need to hurry and vote for him because arabs were SWARMING THE POLLING STATIONSSo some might ask themselves, is Israel full of racist jews who don't care if their leader is cruel and corrupt as long as he keeps the country save from arabs? The answer is not exactly, most Israelies (like most humans really) just want to live their life quietly but this country unfortunately has it's share of terrorism. As you accurately observed Bibi is a lot like Trump, the most basic similarity though is that they both use fear to stay on top. Fear is a strong motivator. While most people living here clearly see that things aren't good in many aspects, for example- young people can only dream of buying a home someday because it has become impossible with the rising prices. Still people are filled with fear when it comes to change, Bibi has a lot of army experience so many believe he has the most tools to handle this country's military and defense. But now the new opposition with Gantz (who used to be commander in chief of the military) has people with new hope, the ones who hope for a change that is. But still Bibi uses demeaning tactics against Gantz and tries to make him look weak in the media. It's so shameful. Anyway, I am hoping for a positive change in this country and we'll just have to wait and see, as you often say: ) Thank you for taking time to cover this, super interestingBeen following this show since my army service (even maybe since high school) and it has only improved with time keep doing a great job

If you're in Israel you'd hear two awful slogens, Only Bibi or anything but Bibi. Literaly everywhere, it's really annoying, and really telling on the devided mindset of the people. Only this guy, he's the only one that can hold this place together, any other politician but him is too wear and will lose the next war for sure - which here means losing our soldiers, our children (mendatory service here meaning most of the soldiers are 18 year old kids that didn't really get a saying on being there) and very possibly the entire country, seeing as we live with either openly hostile countries all around us or at least ones with very cold peace treaties that ould jump on the opportunity to take us down. Plus seeing as things are going, the next war is probably not that far off, they happen every few years and things are getting heated again. And on the other hand Anything but this guy, he's rotten to the cure and acts like he's the king of Israel, why do we even bother calling ourselves a democracy anymore? He's keeping us docile with his scaring tactics and making huge money off of it, having so many corruption scandals he's putting Trump to shame. He doesn't want to make a change, he doesn't want to solve any of our million and one problems. He just wanna stay in power. Anything else would be betterHonestly I think I can see both sides. He really does gotta go, we need a change. We can't even start dreaming of peace. You'd ask anyone on the street and they'd tell you there is peace right now, cause 'quite' (no war and no missiles from the strip) is synonyms with 'peace' now. If you press them and ask about ACTUAL peace, of trying to find actual solutions, they'd probably burst out laughing. Many believe there's no such thing. This place is so freaking frustrating. The problems are so freaking comlicated and no one is lifting a finger to start going in the direction of talking about a solution. We have a million and one problems and corrupt politicians are making all of them worse.

As an Israeli, you did a great job on covering the Bibi story but I must say that one thing was not completely true (probably because there's no room for explaining Israel's entire history lol) - Many people like the Licud party for its members rather than its leader and while some of them are true duds (those you've mentioned, others are great - it's not only right winged on security (a very important thing in Israel due to our situation, and our stance to protect ourselves) but also right winged on economy - while Israel was initially built on socialist grounds, the change to capitalism got us to thrive. Throughout the past decades, privatization of many sectors and breaking up many cartels raised our GDP, and the Licud party was a big part of it (in contrast to the left which is against privatization and for extremely strong unions that negatively control our society's progress by running endless strikes for no apparent reason. In addition, I must admit that the rak lo bibi (anything but Bibi) campaign that everyone is running has become boring and makes it look like a witch hunt even though it shouldn't be (cause Bibi is most likely corrupted. Really? Anything but? Israel is about to become the fourth country to land men on the moon and has many great startups which slowly puts us on the map and unemployment is lower than it has ever been, and people say they would rather vote for anyone else? I'm obviously against corruption but at the same time try to see the bigger picture. I pray to god that the Licud and Kachol-Lavan eventually ally because that means less power to the ultra-right crazy people and all in all the two parties share similar ideologies. Also I hope Bibi is indited which allows a cleaner politician to take his place.

First, thank you for being the rare news platform who doesn't say just total biased bs about Israel and actually tries to cover the information - that just doesn't happen. Now, the reason people like Bibi is because he refuses to talk to Hamas that are a terrorist group-turned- political party. This has made Israel much safer because you can't negotiate with people who just want to kill you. Second, the main reason Bibi affiliates himself with hateful right-wing extremist is because to build a coalition he needs to have 60+ seats on his side. The left is so hell-bent on hating him that they refuse to work with him in any way (sounds familiar) so in order to build a coalition he has to join forces with right wing political parties, in particular orthodox and settler parties. Now mind you, everyone I know in Israel (I lived there for the first 25 years of my life) ABSOLUTELY can't stand the orthodox Jewish parties. They don't work (the government pays the to pray and study) they don't serve in the military, and beyond that they look at secular in completely disdain. If the left wing parties would consider building a coalition with Bibi then they would have the majority and he wouldn't have to team up with radical right wing parties. Having said that he is definitely corrupt and should go away, but there should be serious thought into who could take his place and be able to maintain the relative political calmness that is right now (and by that I mean just having the daily missiles shot at Israel and the occasional terrorist attack.

Thank you so much, Phil & Team for another spectacular informational video. Well researched, well presented, and pretty dang fascinating I am a long time fan of the PDS, but I may even like these supplemental, deeper mini-docs MORE than the daily. It's great to have a source for straight up educational vids on topics I am woefully unaware of. Production level is top drawer these days and the graphics and such are GREAT. Of course, that makes the presentation way more interesting, but it's even better than that. With each episode I see the style growing and learning, but this one really stood out to me. The graphics wasn't just window dressing to present a polished look, they actually helped me UNDERSTAND the story I am hard of hearing, so it is sometimes very hard to understand all of topic if the video is moving along at a steady clip and the presenter speaks quickly (and, while I love DeFranco, he does have a fast cadence you really need to pay attention to or be left in the dust after you've jumped into it, but the visual cues helped my brain organize it all. No small feat, when talking about a topic I know very little about with names I couldn't hope to pronounce. Thank again. Y'all rock.

Kudos for your research team. They did a great job. One thing that was worth mentioning is why exactly does Bibi get so much support from the Israeli public. There are a lot of reasons but the main one is that he has managed to label himself as Mr. security and considering Israel is a very small country surrounded by a lot of enemies it is logical for people to want their leader main focus to be on security, and as much as I want him gone that image is not completely out of reality. Under his rule, there were considerably less Israeli casualties and terrorist attacks than in any other time and under any other Prime minister. I see a lot of coverage from international media that the race is very close and some even saying that Bibi will lose. That is unfortunately not true. In my estimation, there is about a 95% chance that Bibi is going to be elected and that is a conservative number. Even if by miracle, the blue and white party will get more votes, they cannot form a coalition with other existing parties.

Hey Phil I've been watching you since your low quality videos from your bedroom. Love your content and your work. As a fan, i'm surprised you've managed to blow me away with this in depth beautifully explain video. There are many more allegations against Netanyahu and his cousins, if you find this topic interesting I'd love to see your take on it. As a proud Israeli living out of the country with no possibility of voting, i'm afraid Netanyahu will be elected again. At this point it's pretty much either voting Netanyahu or 'anything but Netanyahu' where even voters who are naturally on the left side of the political map feel forced to vote for Ganz and Lapid as their party is the only chance to take the king off his chair. Thank you for your content and keep being a beautiful bastard.

Babi has been good for Israel. If he is voted out Ill fear for the Israelites. (My mother in law is Jewish; therefore, my husband 1/2 and daughter is 1/4 Jewish. My grandma in-law was a survivor of the holocaust. She had a number tattooed on her arm. The family in Israel is still happy with Bibi at the helm. There fear of course is a progressive take over. They just want to be left alone they said. They get along with all races/religious there. Its the outsiders and the left who want to take it away. Palestines at the boarder and sympathizers want to kill the Jews. Islam founder, Mohammads last words were not about peace, they were kill the Jews. Its serious who and which person will take over control to my in-laws and family.
